You don't give that guy the contract they gave him if you don't think he brings something to the table.

Even if we accept your opinion, you are admitting either way that they made a mistake. They either shouldn't have signed him or shouldn't have cut him.

But... I thought we weren't allowed to say they made a mistake?
Look back. I said earlier in this thread that they made a mistake in signing him. The point I was arguing was that it wasn't a mistake to cut him when Breaux got injured. And Spiller never put up big yards in the passing game. He had somewhere around 460 yards once and never more than 269 in any other season.

Spiller played in an awful offense that failed to use him properly after that breakout season, and he also missed time with some injuries.

I distinctly remember in that big year he had, that he didn't become fully integrated until the second half of the year. He had a phenomenal second half.

The thought was that he would come here, be used properly, and be a star. But instead they just cut him loose in favor of other guys who have done next to nothing.

And as for you saying they made a mistake, I know you did. And I'm saying that I thought we weren't allowed to say such things. If I say it, you'll come behind me and say "well maybe you should run the team". As if I can't see something obvious with my own eyes. But I see that it's cool as long as you are calling it a mistake.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

The difference is that I don't chastise them for making a mistake. Every franchise makes mistakes. In many cases they are unavoidable. I criticize those that put all the blame on the front office as if they could have foreseen mistakes. That is my point.

And what you fail to recognize is that people don't get upset over one mistake. There have been a tremendous amount of mistakes over the last few years. We've had three losing seasons out of the last four and we're 0-2 right now. That didn't happen by accident. I do like a lot of the young players on defense, many of whom are injured now. But this team has been put into this rebuild mode because of the numerous mistakes that were made.

When you are one of the handful of teams in the league who can say they have had an elite QB, you aren't supposed to be losing.
