The fact that Sean Payton, his decision making and not preparing the players correctly is what's holding us back.

Signing Fleener for 5 years and 36 mil
Cutting Spiller when Cadet is awful
Putting Brandon Coleman in the game when he's useless

Look at the patriots, 2-0 and missing their starting QB and best receiver.

Cutting spiller is a wash... he wouldn't be available to play because of injuries.

The grass is always going to look greener elsewhere when we are 0-2. But you have to consider things look worse because of what had been done before -

coaching Colston into a ProBowl caliber receiver
finding and coaching up Grubbs, Nicks and Evans on the OL
finding and coaching up Lance Moore, PT and Ivory on the offense
Fujita, Vilma, Sharper - balled out for us completely and became leaders
Shockey - playing fairly well and adding spirit and aggression to the team

The production and fire has ebbed off. Outside of Snead, we are no longer overachievers. That's why, as fans, we are starting to scratch our heads. It's not the same - Payton needs to find a way to reinvent his approach, or things could go pretty badly.

Very valid points, however that was all done on or before 2009, honestly what has Payton done the last 3 years other than move us to greenbrier and lead us to 7-9 seasons.

More playing time for Stephone Anthony, I'm putting this stupid decision squarely on Payton

Kinda the problem we've had these past few years already...

With the exception of days like today, we've never had a problem going up and down the field...

We've got to be able to pound the defense with the rock so there soft in the 4th quarter (sort of like ours has been the past few years)...

Much better plan in place today, problem was we had individuals (e.g. Fleener, Coleman) who failed to use good technique and so failed to do their part...

Ask Warren Moon about the Run and Shoot and that terrible playoff loss to the Bills...
I agree with time of possession and it's key for us now. We have the RB's necessary to pound everyone and keep the game slow. Brees can still pass 35 times a game and throw a couple down field but he must be more of a general to control the game and not get everyone in a hurry.

Lutz missed a kick in both games so far and like was said earlier the Brees fumble coupled with those misses killed us but Lutz is growing at his position and we shouldn't put so much pressure on the newby to win games.

Golf and sex are about the only things you can enjoy without being good at them.

Payton isn't the problem. The problem is no one is there to reign him in.
