What's the word on PJ Williams

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I'm very glad for P.J., that he didn't suffer a spinal injury. I don't mean to lose any perspective on that. But all that aside, if it's only a concussion, why on earth is he going on IR? They let ...

Seems like at least waiting a couple of weeks to see how he progresses would be worth it, rather than just putting him on the shelf immediately.

Burn,
From my reading, there was speculation that PJ suffered a GRADE 3 concussion. Apparently these are super severe (loss of consciousness, amnesia, possible bleeding, nerve trauma). He was on the turf motionless for a least a minute if not longer. If he does in fact have a Grade 3 concussion & would get another one a week or two later it could be life threatening & permanent brain damage.

The young man is only 22, 23 and suffered a very serious injury that could be life altering. Right after it happened, I immediately began to pray for him because it looked bad, I mean Darryl Stingley (paralysis) bad. I just don't think the Saints medical staff & trainers are taking a chance with it.

Side note: IMO I don't think the Saints staff handled Swann's triple concussion situation well last year. Hopefully he has no long term effects.

Well if it is indeed that high of a grade, then I can understand. But all I heard was that is was all good news. I wasn't given any indication that it was anything other than a regular concussion. I was worried about him as well when they were having to immobilize him. But that isn't the most uncommon medical practice if the doctors even think there might be a serious problem.

So I just took Payton's comments the other day to mean that it was a concussion and he might miss a few weeks. While we're all relieved he didn't suffer spinal damage, it seems that Sean's initial comments really downplayed the situation a bit much.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Yea that's cool when the next man up is capable of fulfilling the duties of his predecessor....& that's not our case so I think that might be the big deal

I think they made the right choice to place the young man on IR. Boxers don't fight within a couple years after getting knocked out and with the serious problems with CTE and the continuous concussions Swann had after his misfortunes this seem like a no brainier to place him on IR. I pray that P.J. have a smooth and full recovery

That sucks. But prayers have been answered as far as spinal damage, glad he's not paralyzed.

As for the corner situation, yeah it's bad, but after Monday, we're not far from the bye week. We'll get Rankins and Breaux back eventually...and let's not forget, we held the almighty, ALMIGHTY Giants offense to no TD's, without Breaux, and without PJ Williams. But, I guess we'll have to pitch a few shutouts in a row to convince anybody that we're worth a darn. I'm more concerned with not converting 3rd downs, and the FG unit to be honest.

I said that to say this, if we can manage until Breaux returns, I think we'll have one hell of a secondary.

Second time in a week that I saw Jason David's name on this board.
You know a lot of us paid good money to Psychotherapists to get
him out of our heads.

He wasn't a good CB, but he gave it 110% on every play and never blamed anyone else. If Jonathan Sullivan had 1/2 the heart and drive Jason David had, he would have been a multiple pro bowler.
