Re: Meanwhile the Patriots
Damn I was seriously going to post this thread this morning.
This is a great example of what is wrong with the Saints. No matter who they have at QB they win. 3rd string QB and they dominate. We are build WRONG!!! Last year we should have traded brees for draft picks and build our damn lines. Yeah we'd struggle a year or two but then get a QB that we can protect and we wouldn't be pressed up against the cap every year. We spend so much time with the Pats to share ideas ect but we get nothing for that return. At this rate the Browns are going to win a SB before we do... they got good draft pics in positions that won't run up their cap. I say in 2-3 years they will be a contender. We'er still going to be 7-9 at best. WITH THE FORTH PICK IN THE DRAFT WE SELECT... WR? |

Re: Meanwhile the Patriots
In every era or decade in the NFL, one team is always "top franchise" best or puts the best product on the field. This era = Patriots. And it's the longest "Top franchise" during an era in the NFL I've seen. 49ers were that way through a large chunk of the late 80's and 90's.
It's hard to compare any franchise to the Patriots. They are just better coached and better run then any NFL franchise right now. |
Re: Meanwhile the Patriots
I'd love to hear one of our reporters ask Sean this question. I've heard Payton specifically reference the Patriots as a franchise he has tried to mold the Saints organization after. I'd be curious to hear his (honest) opinion as to how he thinks he's doing in that regard.

Re: Meanwhile the Patriots
Heard an interesting quote about their defense. They play zone. But, it's more of a match up zone. Instead of just dropping to a point in the zone, and allowing a lot of uncontested stuff underneath, they immediately body up anyone coming into their zone. Makes sense to me and it's hard to argue with their success even without a lot of elite players.

BB doesn't try to take shortcuts. And, The Pats are obviously the best at player development that anyone has ever seen. |

True. Just look at Jamie Collins. In my opinion best LB in the game. Amazing development. Sean thinks that he can match that coaching with Vitt, Johnson... Yeah, good luck with that. |
