Nick Fairley becoming a solid pickup

This guy is on a roll. Hope he can continue his early success. We'll need him to continue to play well if the defense has any chance to improve.

Not really surprised here ... 3 years ... three years Nick has been rated as a top DT. He was no fluke coming out of Auburn. Add to it that he is closer to home and seems more mature now.

I personally hope the Saints re sign this guy in the off season.

He'd be a ton better with Sheldon Rankins and Tyeler Davidson healthy

And add Jenkins too. He's up and down for sure but in a rotation he might be more up than down.

I agree Fairley is one of a handful of bright spots.

Definitely want to keep him around but I'm curious how his next contract would look.

Re: Nick Fairley becoming a solid pickup

Nick Fairley is making the kind of impact we hoped for when we signed him. The problem is that it is basically a one year contract and I wonder where the motivation will come from if we sign him to a deal? Will he stay motivated each and every play? I'd be willing to give him a two or three year deal with some heavy incentives to help keep him motivated.

Davison and Onyemata have some serious potential too. This is a good young group that can go places with good coaching...........oh crap. I forgot about Johnson. So much for that theory.

Kruger had me excited but he isn't producing more than any other player in his rotation.:smokin:

Re: Nick Fairley becoming a solid pickup

Kruger is probably at this point in his career a situational pass rusher at best, and he shouldn't be on the field on a running down.

The thing that I read many Browns' fans say after he was cut is that whoever signs him should prepare themselves for him always almost getting to the passer, but rarely actually getting there.

That seems about right, but that is the slogan of the Saints' front 4 anyways...

Kruger should be on the bench, done nothing to earn his spot. Has been a disappointment so far. He was taken out of the game in the 4th qtr and replaced by edibali*, pass rush looked better when Kruger was on the sideline.

Agreed. I was super excited when we signed him but he's been bad. Time to let Edebali get some more playing time.

If he earned then pay him.

Kruger has been flat out bad huh? Can't honestly say I've zeroed in on his game film. So you guys think he's better in the bench?

If Nick has not learned his lesson and goes back to his old ways he will price himself right out the door.

He may have actually learned his lesson; play good football, stay in shape, leave the bong along and let the highest bidder win...

Rankins, healthy and stronger and Onyemata, experienced and coached will be fine at the 3-tech next season...

Wait, do you guys mean that we actually hit on a free agent this side of 2010?

Flat out bad? No, good in some spots but bad in most.

Pass rush, he hasn't brought anything to the table. If we are going to allow lackluster performance than why not put a guy with upside on the field (Edabali)? I feel the same way about JL and Robertson.

Re: Nick Fairley becoming a solid pickup

Nick is a load. He does things that might not show up in the books.
His disruption in the middle has/can/will make some other things happen for us.
I'm just glad somebody showed up to play some ball.
Maybe the rest will catch fire.
Somebody rub him up against Cam - see if he catches fire.

Should Nick Fairley maintain his level of play, snaps et al he should finish with 60 Tackles (6 Tackles for Loss) and 10 quarterback sacks...

Just wait until Rankins returns in a few weeks.
You'll see our outside guys reap the rewards of the inside pass rush.

Preach Brother!

Its really tough playing QB if the pocket collapses around you and you have nowhere to step up.

Nick Fairley is really really motivated. I hope it continues after he gets his next contract.
