this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; We just beat the Super Bowl runner ups who almost won a rematch against the Super Bowl winners so by logic we should be a lock....

Close, but no cigar. I think that but for a few teams at the top and bottom of the NFC and AFC, the rest are more or less even. As the Saints have proven, the difference between 1-5 and 5-1 is razor thin.
For whatever reason (health or talent), if we had even a mediocre defense and a slight upgrade on the O line, we would be thinking Super Bowl. Brees and the receiving corp look as good or better than any we have ever put on the field. Age can come on suddenly, but Brees looks like he could easily have another 3 - 5 years in him. |
