Re: Should the Saints have gone for it on 4th & 1 up 21-0?
I absolutely thought they should have gone for it. That was the turning point in making what could have been a blowout into a nail biter.
They had two chances to get one yard. Ingram made what looked like a pretty weak effort on 3rd and 1. Looked like there was some daylight there that he could have hit quickly, but instead he was slow and ran into the pile, in vintage Ingram fashion. But it was still less than a yard away. I would have gone for it with a quick hand off to Kuhn, who has excelled in those situations. I was certain Lutz would not make the field goal, and kept saying "please don't try to kick this and leave Carolina with great field position". But that's exactly what happened. I would rather have punted than to try that field goal. Carolina drives a whopping 33 yards and gets 3 points because of the field position, and momentum started shifting more and more the other way and turned it into a shootout that never should have been. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

The other consideration is that we try the BS draw the offsides play and burn a time out.
If you have that TO left at the end of the half you can run at least one more play and not necessarily settle for the field goal with 13 seconds left |

What's the argument? A counterfactual? Yes. Good way to expose the limits of our critical thinking. What if Kuhn had taken a safety by running 65 yards in the opposite direction? Would we still have won the game by a point? Would Mothers stop putting debris on Poboys? Would the river turn red? Would Atlanta fall into the sea? Would pigs become our masters?
Wow. This thread is awesome. |

My opinion is that, for this season any way, as long as the offense is on the field, the defense isn't; I am a lot more calm when that occurs!

I want the Sean back that did onsides kicks and did cross fit and ran marathons. He seems to be in a funk, potbelly and no spirit. Need a spark from somewhere.
