not new but from the seattle press-
The Seahawks also are being mentioned as potential landing spots for two more players who are being dangled as trade bait -- New Orleans defensive end Darren Howard, the Saints' franchise player; and Houston linebacker Jamie Sharper. The Saints and Texans have spoken to the Seahawks about potential deals, with the Saints seeking a first- or second-round draft choice for Howard and the Texans possibly willing to part with Sharper for a fourth-round pick. Each would fill a void in Seattle, after defensive end Chike Okeafor signed with Arizona this week and linebacker Anthony Simmons was released last week. But making a deal with the Saints or Texans would be just the first step, because the Seahawks also would have to sign either player to a long-term deal. Howard's tender as the franchise player is $7.8 million. Sharper is scheduled to count $6.13 million against the salary cap this season, and he lost his starting job last week when the Texans signed free-agent linebacker Morlon Greenwood. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/footba...53_hawk11.html personally, i think i am more disappointed over not getting sharper than hartwell, perkins, or a high end LB. a 4th rd pick is pretty darn cheap for a guy that could displace allen in a heartbeat. he led the nfl in tackles in 2003. i certainly envision him affordable contract wise as well. this inactivity with lb's reminds me of when everyone in the whole world said n.o. needed a cb. it even looked like they were gonna be aggressive and go after the best one in the 2003 draft. noooo, we are smarter than everyone else... okay, okay, have some coffee :bart: [Edited on 11/3/2005 by LKelley67] |

I\'m with you on the feeling that we won\'t get Sharper. I can\'t BELIEVE Haz Said that WE were not even interested in Acquiring him??? That blows me away. I like to watch the Texans games because I like CARR, and when watching, I noticed Sharper a lot like Bellamy in a Saints game. His name came up on almost every tackle! Something I can\'t say for Saints LB\'s. Even more Dis -heartening is the thought that Seattle could land him and Howard! I Dislike Seattle VERY Much, this makes it worse if they get two players I would like to see in a Saints uniform. Hope if we do give them Howard we get a good return?

The Dallas Cowboys have emerged as the primary suitor for Saints defensive end Darren Howard, but a handful of other teams have expressed interest in trading for New Orleans’ franchise free agent in recent days, NFL sources said Friday.

Dallas has two first round picks, the 2nd of which is at 20 I believe. But I doubt they\'d go that high for Howard without extras.
