He also stated that it was not the coaches. KC ran everything the coaches said they'd run.

We are basically playing with 10 man on defense. Byrd is that bad. On passing plays, nowhere near football. On running plays he doesn't tackle.

Not really sure what the deal is with Byrd, but it is fairly obvious he is not playing well. Is he being used properly, did he ever fully recover from all the injuries? KV calling him out, is that an indication maybe he isn't putting forth full effort? Problem is right now whatever the issue(s) is, the Saints are stuck. Vonn Bell started a couple weeks back and looked even worse...

I said it when we signed him and I will say it again. Kenny is not the SS the saints need to team with Byrd. Neither are any of the other SS on the roster. A younger Harper would have worked probably

Saints once again signed a player that over the years they did not get a player to maximize their investment

We are better off with Vaccaro and Bell playing safety position. Byrd was a huge bust at FA obviously. He is pulling a Browner and just cashing a cheque. I like that KV is stepping into faces and manning up. We need to build around that leadership and not run it away.

Good for Vaccaro, really glad to see him come into his own not only as a player, but defensive leader...

Byrd has been as bad for this team as Galette was - ship him out now, with a 2017 4th round pick if necessary...

If you can get rid of Westbank for not being available, not embracing the team, not going along to get along then...

You need to move guys like Byrd, Ellerbe, hell, even Cam Jordan, if they're not giving, earning their value...

He certainly has performed poorly. Devante' (Falcons) abused him in the open field and the Ware (KC) mis tackle was equally bad.

Chalk it up as a failed experiment ... expensive one at that.

I hope it's just growing pains but in the carolina game, Vonn Bell completely ignored an overthrown ball to go and hit a receiver, that is why we don't force turnovers, because our guys are dumb!

I can't disagree with this. It didn't happen in the KC game but in previous games, if you are a DB running with a receiver or behind the receiver and you are looking RIGHT at the receiver and all of a sudden you are about to run him over, wouldn't you think to look for the ball? No..not our guys, we run the receiver over instead.

And just because its the way things go when you are not very good, In the KC game, Crawley finally looked for the ball and got the fumble feet and fell over and let the receiver catch the ball anyway.

I understand these guys are backups, but ffs, do you not learn how to play the football?

Also, the play I mentioned above I watched it over and over, after the play Vaccaro literally stands infront of Bell with his hands up like "what the f*** are you doing, why not intercept the pass??"

Vaccaro looked visibly annoyed, to me he is the only guy playing with any passion at all.

The back end is going to continue to struggle because the front 7 aren't doing sh!t. Until we get the front 7 fixed, we are going to continue to struggle.

The D line exposes our secondary for too long when protection is good and no penetration any defense will likely to break down.

I'll agree that the front 7 is the real problem on D, Byrd is absolutely trash, he may be one of the worst FA signings ever. If they cut him tomorrow we would be a better team.

I'm sure he was talking about a lot of people. Byrd isn't the only one who isn't contributing squat. But he's the highest paid, and seems to be the one who tries the least. He ALWAYS over runs the ball carrier whenever they break into the secondary. That burns me more than anything. It's bad enough to get blown by in coverage, but tackling is a basic thing that is all about effort. He doesn't seem to give a crap about it.

This guy was an all pro before he got here. I know it isn't because he CAN'T. He just won't. I can't even begin to imagine why.

The Saints Personnel Decision Makers have got to continue to address the front seven, especially since they blew up the 3-4 plans and went 4-3 with Dennis Allen...

We need two starting defensive ends, with one of those spelling Cam Jordan who's been virtually ineffective the past couple of seasons, only getting his sacks in bunches against backup linemen...

With Fairley trending upward, we've got a good start on the interior with Rankins (healthy), Fairley, Onyemata and Davison; but the edge defenders are just not getting it done; Now Onyemata was supposedly going to get looks on the edge, but haven't seen that yet...

So many big plays that have been given up that could have been contained are direct results of Byrd being out of position.
It has to be embarrassing for the defensive players (who care) to constantly see a top offense and bottom dweller defense. Doesn't take a genius to figure out how we are not competing for a post season spot.
