How are we going to keep Jimmy in check?

We all know Jimmy is licking his chops for this game. I'm expecting him to go off on our D mega time. Will double teaming/bracketing him even work consistently with our players?

He faded away in big games before when he played for us, but that was against great defenses. If we can keep him under control (somehow) we have a chance but if he's running free he will eat us alive.

He's going to suck.

You really think so? Even washed up players tend to go bananas on their former team and he's been getting multiple catches this season. We don't have anyone that can go up for a jump ball with him.

Re: How are we going to keep Jimmy in check?

We surrender the world to weaker players, this one is going to be ugly for us. We can't defend a pass to save our lives and can't rush a pocket QB, Wilson and Graham will tear us apart.

We're not... Plain and simple.

I was being a bit factious, but Graham has always had a tendency of playing tight at times. He still did fine in some games because he had Brees throwing him the ball. He now has an injured Russell Wilson whose game has become totally one dimensional. He has only rushed for 33 yards on the year. He has averaged more than that per game before this year. Knowing he can't run the Saints have an extra defensive player to cover the back or Graham. I can see Vaccaro in coverage on Graham quite a bit. Right now Vaccaro is one of our best defensive players and is playing with heart.

Russell is LESS than a pocket QB. He is totally hobbled. That's why they have looked so bad.

Hit him early and hard.

THIS! And Vaccaro is ready and willing. WE all know how Graham backs down when challenged physically. He was always soft for us and he is still soft.

Beating JG is easy. Here's what you do. Hit him hard, twice coming off the line EVERY PLAY. Disrupt his route and timing. Works on him every time.

It's funny how you tried to rag on me for saying this about him a couple of years ago, but now it's cool to say it because he's on the other side.

It's only because if you disagree with him he'll call you a "pretend GM," then challenge you to prove him wrong and won't accept any answer you give.

It's like arguing with a 5 year old.

Re: How are we going to keep Jimmy in check?

I'm not worried about Graham or anyone on Seattle's offense. Not that our defense will shut them out, but Seattle just isn't very good on that side of the ball right now.

I'm more curious to see if we can score more than 15 points against them, which has been a problem the last couple of times we've faced them. It's at home, though, so maybe we can pull one out.

Indeed it is, unfortunately.

Seattle leaving the Dome with an L.

I'm not overly concerned about Jimmy Dickens.

Re: How are we going to keep Jimmy in check?

As long as we stay disciplined on the ends we can control sea chickens offense. Wilson will not beat us in the pocket but even hobbled if Jordan crashes the inside too much Wilson will still limp to the outside and throw a jump ball up to Jimmy and complete some of them. We can't let even a limping Wilson out of the pocket. Sea chickens are down another O-lineman after Sunday night, we need pressure up the middle but contain the ends.

Perhaps it is because I am actually open to learning. You were right about him. I have no problem stating that now.

I will gladly accept an answer if one is truly given. Simply saying that "I wouldn't have done the same thing" without giving actual reasons why, under the exact same circumstances and with the exact same information available you would not have done the same thing is NOT an answer.

A five-year-old may not understand that, but one would hope an adult could grasp the concept.

Keep him in the pocket. Even with 4 man rush they were dominating seahawks o-line. But their D-line is way better than ours. Jones and Golden are great pass rushers. We have zero pass rush!

Zero pass rush AND zero ability to set the edge and contain.

Wilson isn't leaving the pocket. He is so hobbled that he has been forced to do everything from within the pocket. The one thing he can do to really hurt the Saints defense has been taken away this season.

Well you know what? I will give you a little credit for admitting being wrong about him. We're all wrong about things from time to time. But there's one problem I have. If you had only disagreed with me about him back then, I wouldn't have even remembered our conversation. You called me things like idiot, a moron, and you called my opinions "vitriolic". What have you seen since then that is any different from what I, and more than a few others, already knew then?

You are always so sure that not only are you right, but everyone who disagrees with you is an all out stupid moron. I tell you all the time that just because we aren't affiliated with the team, that doesn't mean we don't know what we're looking at.

You wouldn't accept anything I said then, yet you claim in another post here that you will "gladly accept an answer if one is truly given". That's an impossible thing to do, because you won't accept anything until you have decided on your own that it's ok to change your mind.

Good question. I don't have an adequate answer.

Graham was pretty invincible until the Patriots game in 2013.

Bellich game planned for him

Talib beat him up and held him on every play. Almost no flags.
The other teams (the best ds first) followed suite

Didn't help that Drew was throwing to him in blanket triple coverage

... by hanging on to the ball, and scoring on every offensive possession.

its our only chance.

How so Hagan?

Seattle is still recovering from 5 quarters of battling AZ to a tie game, their O line is spotty and Russell Wilson has multiple concerns right including a injured pec (heard on 710 Seattle radio) + they are traveling a long ways for a 12 noon game on Sunday.

We are catching Seattle at the right time ... Seattle and Jimmy Dickens are going home with a fresh L.

He's injured. Plus he's not near as good as he used to be. We catch him going across the middle a time or two and deliver a good hit he will start dropping every ball his way. Harper knows him well. Should be a favorable matchup.

Are you confident any of our defenders know how to spot an opposing player? Nevermind make a tackle on one? I'm sure as hell not lol

Easy, tag him on his first catch, then watch him disappear.

Re: How are we going to keep Jimmy in check?

We would have a much better chance of limiting a motivated JG if Ellerbe was playing. We need to play smash mouth football since we don't have but a couple of starters left on defense. Hit him in the mouth early and often. Check him hard at the line and knock him down to the ground.....that should be Vaccaro's assignment.

Also, be prepared for a couple of early personal foul penalties to set the tone for the game. If you can't compete then intimidate!
