Well deserved, but as soon as he has 1 bad game the Strief haters will claim he sucks.

What? No fanfare? This guy has been called garbage on this very site and has been solid since his days of being declared eligible in spot duty.
Whodat, Zach!

I'll admit I was wrong about two guys, Strief and Peat, both have played incredible so far, especially to say our O line looked very dodgy in preseason.

There's a huge difference between someone who was concerned about our O-line, and the clowns who kept calling Strief garbage.

At least you are man enough to admit it. There were two or three others that had the Saints offensive line pegged as the worst ever at the start of the season that have mysteriously disappeared.

Nobody ever said worst ever. That is your typical hyperbole to make yourself feel better.

The line was garbage a year ago, and they brought the entirety of it back, with Peat being the only one young enough to make the inexperienced excuse. Peat has improved in the run game, still not that great at pass blocking. Our running game comes and goes, and our QB still has to get rid of the ball early. Is it as bad as it could have been? No. It's been decent. But we have players on offense who mask a lot of would be issues, in my opinion.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

I watched the replay, too. Protection was just as bad as ever, and so was the run game. And being that it IS pre-season, defenses aren't exactly firing away out there. Plus, there was no JJ Watt.

I'm all for giving guys time to gel, but this is the same group from last year. How long does it take to gel? I think the defense will be improved, and depending on how far the pass rush has come (of which, there is no true barometer until the real season starts) they could even be vastly improved. But on offense, everything hinges on that O-line, and nothing is indicating to me that it is heading in the right direction.
That said, it wasn't you I was addressing. WillSaints81 and saintshrimp were the two I was referring to and both have become more and more scarce as the Saints have looked better.

I remember posting that very clearly. When did I say "worst ever"? You're referencing a post where I said I watched a replay of some game where our protection was as bad as ever. That means as bad as it's been. Not as bad as any in the history of football. How did you manage to twist that? You just went through my posts and tried to find the closest thing you could come up with to twist my words into making your point?

I was skeptical, and had every reason to be. It's been better than I expected. That said, it is far from a strength, as some have suggested, in my humble opinion.

As for the other posters you mentioned, I don't know where they are, are why they haven't been around according to you, but I don't remember them saying "worst ever", either. Everyone was skeptical, because it was the same group that struggled mightily a year ago, and it wasn't a particularly young line.

Meanwhile, many people, such as myself, said this was going to be either a .500 or maybe 10-6 team, if everything broke right, because there were too many question marks. You complained about that and called us negative nancy's. Well it's been an up and down year and we're 4-4. You want to talk about that?

We all had our opinions. And not everything plays out the way you think, or hope it will.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
