Disappointed, very

But I still like this team and I still think we can make the playoffs.

Turnovers... 4. You can't win at this level like that. It can't happen.

Special teams play has been poor. This isn't the first time we've seen a FG or PAT blocked for a score (see NY GIANTS game).

7-9 here we come

This is the same exact thing that happen in the last 2 seasons, started poorly, got to .500, finished 7-9. Why expect anything different?

They did everything they could to lose this game on offense and special teams, and they finally succeeded.

Unbelievable.

why not? This is a decent team, and they're getting better.

Can't disagree, still like this team and see good things coming. Have not felt that way the last two seasons. It hurts, but let's see what next week brings. I am hurting, the week just got a lot longer, trust me

We all said the same thing over the last 2 years...

I'm not going to be foolish, this team is pretending.

You bet turnovers were a killer, tough to overcome. But we fought to the end. Lesson learned on the D running over the top for the block.

and some things to win, 6 or 7 sakcs, two turnovers. can't cough it up 4 times, though, no doubt about that. you're right, but let's see what next week brings. I do truly feel and believe we have the makings of a good team.

I'm past the point of being satisfied with fighting to the end. That's what a team is supposed to do. Finishing games matters more to me. We're 4-5. We are what our record says we are. The thing is, the excuses for some of the losses have been an injured defense. But the defense showed up today. To see us blow the game on offense at home is a big disappointment to me.

I didn't and nor did I feel that way. I felt the '14 team was frigan horrible. The defense had 6 sakcs, two more turnovers. we're getting there. not there yet, but getting there. could go 7-9, definitely, but I feel like this team is better and I see it. might not be there yet, but we have the makings of a good team. Just my opinion, and I think there is some evidence for that too

We lose to ATL, DET and TB.

7-9 with all the hope in the world going into the offseason, and it's likely we'll do the same thing next year. Lol

Edit: I'll have to throw another loss in there to get that 7-9 but you get the point... Same season 3 years running...

I said on offense and special teams. Notice I didn't mention the defense.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't know that so I will wait and see

That should have been a penalty, the rule clearly states what is considered leverage. The guy landed on the center.

Rule states:
(o) Jumping or standing on a teammate or opponent to block or attempt to block an opponent’s kick.

This is the saints, should be used to them blowing leads and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Disappointed yes but I saw some nice work on the D-line today.
And no matter what Brees keeps us in games like no other Saint
QB that I can remember.

this week sucks. at least we play Thursday, hopefully we can get it turned around and play good Thursday. Maybe Armistead will be healthy enough to play the whole game

Me too Brother, it really takes the fun out of gameday when you can never relax.

At 17-10 if we had scored a TD, i don't think they come back, but no Thomas had to fumble, and then fumble again.

Brees took ownership of his mistakes and still put the team in a position to win it. All ups for Drew.

The defense was very good today. I thought Breaux was awful, but the pressure on the QB was unlike anything I've seen in a few years from this team. It's the awful turnovers and special teams blunders that cost us. sometimes you get beat, and that's never fun. But beating yourself hurts more. We gave it away today.

I was very proud of the defense, and they deserve recognition. It's a shame it was wasted.

Let's hope we're motivated for Thursday and eliminate that stuff

Yep, I hope so. Two hands on the ball, Michael Thomas. I am always aggravated with any loss, but I usually am over it in a few hours after the steam wears off. I can tell I'm going to be thinking about this one a bit longer.

You're right that at least we have a short week. I hate thursday games, but maybe they need a quick turnaround right now.

Amen Brother were not out yet, I am encouraged by the improvement
of parts of the Defense. But our secondary needs to step up another
level. However a lot of teams in the League are dealing with banged up
secondary's I think it's the nature of the beast.

Re: Disappointed, very

Breaux did not look healthy, thomas ran a slant and Breaux just jogged behind him.

Re: Disappointed, very

Who gets blamed for that though? Do we now start telling the centers to stand up to create contact among players trying to jump oversowe can get the call? Because the center was DEFINITELY touched

Re: Disappointed, very

We all need to take a deep breath, settle down and look at this loss rationally:

We lost to an AFC team; virtually no tie-breaking implications

I don't think we play a team as good defensively, (possible exception is Cardinals) the rest of the season.

We are one game out of 2nd place; after we sweep out the litter box Thursday night we will be back at .500 and in second place.

I don't remember any additional injuries that look like they will be long term.

Was this game winnable; absolutely, but aren't all of them?

The only games that I am even mildly concerned about are Rams & Arizona; I believe we run the table in the division, and I don't see Detroit beating us.

What do detroit do well? Make 4th quarter comebacks, they have 5 so far.

What do the Saints do well? Give away leads in the 4th quarter...

I'm with you here. I keep saying the real key games will be against the Panthers and Lions games if the Saints are to make it to a wild card spot. Unfortunately one of those key games is an away game on Thursday night.

EDIT: I am almost with you here. The losses to the Broncos and Raiders do have tie breaker implications. Win-loss % against common opponents is the 3rd tie breaker.

Re: Disappointed, very

I don't think it's been mentioned but our special teams is very bad this year.

Circle back to Giants game (blocked fg), Oakland (missed fg for a win) & Denver (blocked PAT & subsequent score). Our kickoff return turn team looks clueless out there. Hightower and Cadet have no awareness on returns.

McMahon should have been fired last year.
