Saints defensive tackle Nick Fairley triggers $250k bonus with sack vs. Broncos
New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Nick Fairley had a good reason to be excited after his sack on the opening drive of Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos.
Fairley now has 4.5 sacks this season, and the play early in the game helped him trigger a $250,000 performance bonus in his contract. The Saints effectively signed Fairley to a one-year deal worth $3 million in March, but he can earn up to $1.75 million in incentives. Included in the potential bonuses is up to $750,000 just for sacks. Fairley can earn another $250,000 if he improves to 5.5 sacks, and he would receive $250,000 more if he makes it to seven sacks.
