this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I agree that something needs to be done with the coaching, but I am not sure what can be done when a team is so far down the depth chart as the Saints are?...

Re: Saints will add an additional special teams coach, report says
Sent the message to McMahon that he is going to be released. The rest of the season is an audition for a coaching job somewhere else. Might be a genius move. He knows he can't be complacent now because he won't be employed by his friend anymore.

If Payton wants, he can hire me as well as a remote special teams consultant. My first order of business would be to tell him that this move is a frivolous exercise and looks to the outsider as entitling McMahon. #TakingTwoPeopleToChangeALightbulb

Re: Saints will add an additional special teams coach, report says
Ha, like you think I care. Not that I am worried about it, trust me, but this move reminds me of what happens to companies in Japan -- when a business executive is performing poorly, rather than fire him and admit that the company made a mistake, they will just hire another executive to move right in beside him and do his job for him, rather than face the dishonor of admitting that the company has dead weight on staff or made a bad move in hiring. These companies have people who are executives and managers, but they are paid to basically show up and tend their garden. It's like in the TV show ""Silicon Valley" where they promote useless people to offices on the roof....
This move is about Payton saving face and avoiding reality....surely there has to be a reason why they are now paying three special teams coaches to do the job that one was supposed to be doing -- although I know that you have the black and gold goggles on and will never ever admit or acknowledge that. They have been propping up McMahon for years with bringing in kicking consultants like Carney, and adding assistants, and with Payton stepping in to help him....and yet with all the help he's had, the unit is STILL consistently one of the worst in the league and barely able to kick an extra point on Sundays. |
