Here we go.

If Lutz doesn't know how to kick it higher by now, he'll never learn.

His "trajectory problem" is the same as just about all kickers in the NFL, they are kicking the ball wrong, it is that some kickers learn to compensate for that.

NFL kickers are said to kick the ball "Soccer style", with the inside of the foot, but really, there isn't a "Soccer style"... in Soccer, you kick the ball with whichever part of the foot will give you the desired result/effect. If you want the ball to come up high and straight, and travel far, you kick it low with the top of the foot. Your upper body should lean away from the ball, not towards it. That's it.

The special teams drama has killed this team since the last time it was actually stable - 2009-2010. Since then, it has been one disaster after the next.

On WWL Morten Andersen said both his trajectory and his get off time is coachable and correctable, but you normally do it in the offseason, not during the season

Looks like he got that problem squared away.

Yeah it usually takes really small changes to achieve but to get it reliable it takes a ton of reps.

I definitely thought the trajectory on his kicks were better today.

I beg to differ sir. Lutz never had a competent kicking coach until his senior year in college wher ehe was discovered by Harbaugh at his first kicking clinic who sent him an invitation to training camp. The kid is raw with amazing potential and just needs some kicking technique corrections. The problem is that Lutz stated that he is trying to figure out how to correct the problem instead of McMahon figuring it out.

I played rugby for over 35 years and just learned how to drop kick a rugby ball recently. So adults can still learn to kick better with a little coaching......just sayin'.
Edit: You are correct about the correct kicking technique with a soccer style kick. Good points....but he can still be the man with good coaching. Fire McMahon.:brood:

It's just like golf. Keep your head down until well after contact with the ball.
It's amazing how much the rest of your body follows what your head does.
