We should be 7-5 and maybe 8-4. What do you think the teams real chances of making a playoff game is? :rolleyes:

Zero to .oo5 % chance. Sorry to inconsistent both sides of the ball. Special teams play is right off the playground and drew is starting to turn it over more frequently, not in the cards I'm afraid.

Know it sounds like a cliche', but I really try not to think of playoffs until at least the third to last week of season, or if we're eliminated sooner...

I'm more focused on things like...

Is the team improving?

Do we have personnel on the bench that should be playing/starting?

Should we be moving/trading personnel?

Are the players properly prepared for games (coaching)?

Are we game-planning to put our personnel types in best position to succeed?

That said, asked, I'd say the team is turning the corner, but we do need to do something in the front office to replace Loomis and put a stronger check and balance in place to keep Payton from making further blunders in free agency and the Draft...

So were 5-7 and not trending very strong, our odds are not good.
I like what jeanpierre wrote this team has to look ahead and keep
improving on all aspects of this New Orleans franchise.

The last time the Saints won more than three games in a row, was Sean Payton's first month back on the job in September 2013, over three years ago now. Since then, they've never won more than three games in a row without a loss. And the last time they actually won more than 1 playoff game in a row was seven years ago. Make of that whatever you will.

It's hard to make the playoffs with another 7-9 record. It's possible just not probable. I voted 25%. Yep. I'm optimistic too. :p

we were 8-8 the year before superbowl, so think of that as a marker, just get to 8-8 dam it, then wait til next year is something to look forward to.

Now that I'm reading all the replies, it seems that the Saints actually have some real goals for the last quarter of the season:

1. Put together a real winning streak.
2. Both win in the division and play spoiler in the division. As we all know, if you cannot win your division games, the chances of moving far into the playoffs are slim and none.
3. Get a winning record for the first time in 3 years.
4. Have positive momentum into the offseason.
5. Keep open the slight chance of sneaking into the playoffs at 9-7.

Since there's a lot to play for, let's keep hope alive...

This season was over when we went 0-3.

I haven't changed my mind. We were done then. I hate winning games at this point just costing us draft picks.

Every game will be a 'must win'. Four chances to take the division against very beatable rivals.

Health and turnovers will be key.

It would be great to think the Saints could make the playoffs somehow but unfortunately I don't think they will do it this season. I will still watch every game though as I'm sure most true Saints fans will.

It was suggested that the Saints could "tank" the rest of the season to get a better draft pick!

Is that actually allowed in the NFL?

Winning division games only is not going to do anything. And they don't work out if you are playing someone who has more to play for. Winning games outside the division is important and then the division wins come. The whole we have to be perfect every game to win argument is BS because we did not need to win every game the rest of the way. We needed to win just two more non-divisional games. And we failed. We just don't do things right.
