Saints fans who were concerned that QB Aaron Brooks’ shoulder problem would become a chronic injury can breathe a sigh of relief. Brooks underwent arthroscopic surgery Jan. 17 to repair a detached infraspinatus tendon, which attaches one of the four major muscles of the rotator cuff to the bone. The surgery was described as a success, and the team expects Brooks to be ready to participate in minicamp in early May. Some insiders believe that the surgery could end up being a blessing in disguise. Because Brooks will be required to rehab the injury by lifting weights to strengthen the tendon, there is some speculation that he may improve his arm strength. One other benefit that has been offered is that after suffering the first major injury of his NFL career, Brooks may be a little more focused heading into next season because he could realize how fragile life in the NFL can be. |
