Sean Payton: Report I discussed future with Mickey Loomis is “completely false”
On Sunday, a report from Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune said the Rams are expected to ask for permission to speak to Sean Payton about their head coaching vacancy and that Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis is open to the idea of trading Payton to L.A. https://nbcprofootballtalk.files.wor...0605.jpg?w=231
Holder also reported that Payton and Loomis met for an hour after the team’s loss to the Falcons to discuss the coach’s future. On Monday, though, Payton called that part of the report “completely false” and explained that his meeting with Loomis after the game was exactly the same as the meetings the two men have had after road games during their time together in New Orleans. He also said the reports of him firing Rob Ryan were "completely false" and then he fired Rob the next day.

I've said it before but I'm so sick of this. I really hate the whole "hot seat", trade/fire stuff. It's a distraction IMO and it's all we read about. There will be tons of articles on rumors and trade/fire talks, but there won't be a squeak from the big media about Michael Thomas' great season, how well Rankins played after he finally hit the field, Cooks' great season or how well Unger played. It'll all be "Sean Payton flirting w/ the Rams/49ers" or similar.
If he's going to be traded or if he's staying, I really hope the team makes it clear soon. This **** gets old. |

The "Powers To Be" will make the decision.
Our job here is to piss and moan about it. Good or Bad. |
Re: Sean Payton: Report I discussed future with Mickey Loomis is “completely false”
I'll believe that Payton is going to stay if the team starts getting rid of some coaches. Vitt and McMahon need to go. If Sean grows some balls and gets rid of a few of his buddies, it would go a long way to reassuring the fan base that he's more dedicated to winning then he is to his coaching staff.

But will he ever get rid of them if he doesn't think they are a issue? Doubt it. He is loyal through and through. His undoing will be just like it was for Les.
