Re: Wade Phillips
It is just that simple.
Sideline to sideline linebackers and at least 1 that can run with a tightend. Corners that can look back and make a play on the ball instead of cat-fighting with the receiver after the ball whizzes past their ear hole. A solid pass rusher that can force coverage to less than 5 seconds. All the coaching in the world is useless without talent to execute the plan. Doesn't matter whether it's 4-3 or 3-4 when you have players that make plays. |

Re: Wade Phillips
No. He's a defensive coordinator nothing more. If we bring a defensive minded coach in our D may get better but our offense surely won't. We have had the number one or top 3 offenses every year Payton has been here. It wouldn't be that way with any other coaches not named Bellichek or whatever.

Whoever becomes the new HC in Denver would be really, really, really stupid to let Phillips go, and that is, should Phillips decline the HC position, which will be offered to him.

Putting the coaching carousel aside, I just watched the press conference with Kubiak and man you have to feel for Gary and the Broncos. You can tell Gary doesn't want to leave but feels the health just isn't going to allow him to coach anymore. Best of luck to Gary, he seems like a classy individual.
