Re: Terrelle Pryor as a Saint WR... should we?

While the Saints defense made progress, they still ended up the 31st ranked scoring defense in 2016. So unless Pryor can be a healthy shutdown corner or effectively rush the passer, adding any offensive player that isn't a lineman really doesn't make a lot of sense.

Maybe some folks missed the reference in the final game that the 2016 Saints are only the 2nd team in NFL history to have a 5000 yd QB, 2 1000+ yard receivers, and a 1000+ yard rusher on the the same team.
While the Saints offense can sometimes be inconsistent and slow starting, there really isn't a fundamental problem with offensive production.

Unfortunately the 2 Falcons games illustrate where resources need to be allocated. Scoring 32 points in each game and losing both doesn't mean that you need more offense.

I will say this... we were in the same situation last offseason being in dire straits defensively and our big money signing was Coby Fleener. Payton loves his weapons so who knows?!

Yeah but Fleener can't play QB or do returns. Likely not going to happen though. Our D and OL needs the upgrades. If not for that then I could see it.

Michael Thomas is more grounded and will become a much better football player than Pryor.

We don't need him.

Brees is old, say we lose a couple of QB's like the Pats early. It would be nice to have him around. He's not just a WR. Just something to consider.

Pryor is a super talent but not a top priority in NO at the WR position.

What if there's money left over and he's affordable?

Then I'd say sign him in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I believe he will get paid like a #1 WR.

Thats what I was about to post. Its not like signing this guy is gonna keep us from spending on defense.

We desperately need a returner. (someone said he returns kicks, but I don't see that anywhere)

How much would this guy cost us? Whats his market?

I think he's a high end #2 receiver. Whatever Snead's value on the market is I'd say Pryor is worth about $2 million more.

You are correct, no official returns but he did learn to become a 1,000 yd WR in one year. He's also 6'4", a great target for Brees. Super fast, athletic and will comeback for the ball and extend for it. I know he wants out of there as well. Somebody is going to pay him big money.
