Re: Grading the 2016 Saints Linebackers

the saints signed a solid foundation to build upon

It is just a start. The saints need to keep adding quality young backups that could be ready to blossom and have shown they can handle filling in when needed at a productive level. Quality trapped behind quality starters. Solidifying the DL and keeping players like Robertson and Stupar clean will be key seeing these players worth. Tape showing proven flexibility just like before.

A.J. Klein MLB/OLB Carolina 25

one or two rolls of the dice on a player that is stuck in the wrong system or was made into something they are not. Cheap prove it contracts types.

Corey Lemonier 34 DE 24 back to 43 DE
Jarvis Jones 34 OLB 26 back to 43 DE

Draft solid all around LB and not take the bait for flash. Favorite example in the draft is

Tim Williams VS Ryan Anderson

At this point in the development of the defense I have to go with the all around play of Anderson over Williams

But just an opinion

Robertson is really the only keeper.

Ellerbe is too frequently injured, although an A player when healthy
I don't know what to say about Anthony.
The rest are role players and good back-ups.

I could see several new LB's on this roster next year.

Would like to see us take Foster in the draft if a good DE isn't available.
Not many LBs in free agency.

C Campbell and Logan Ryan are my favorite targets in free agency.

I like that. I think we should draft Reuben Foster as well. With Kikiha coming back we'd have a great rotation on the ends and at LB.

Agreed with all of the above posters.

This team needs a speedy play making LB more than it needs a CB. We haven't had a difference maker on that level of the defense since Vilma and it's a glaring need.

Linebacker has been the biggest weakness on this team for many years.

I'd like to see Duke Riley in the mid rounds. He's another version of Debo Jones who has turned into one hell of a linebacker for the Falcons. I wish we would have gotten him.

Yep.

My sleeper LB from LSU is Kendell Beckwith. Mid round pick with great side line to sideline speed.

Wonder if we could get Kiko Alonso away from the Fish?
