Jury's still out I think on all 3 of them. Byrd Finally healthy flashed for a couple of plays reminiscent of his Buffalo days. Bell is promising I think if he doesn't take "byrd-like" angles. He did prove he's not scared to tackle if he's actually in on the play which was a supposed knock on him. I'm still pulling for Stephone after what he showed his rookie year as far as being a playmaker. Maybe with Vitt gone the light may come on.maybe not lol I'm going look into that linebacker you mentioned. |

Re: Potential of Draft Trades/Movement
If someone would really want to shake things up ,move Vaccarro and Armstead. There are stout 2 FA we could pusuit for the O-line and Peat could slide to LT, but both Vaccarro and Armstead have good trade value.

Vaccarro while he not a traditional player has proven his worth. I am pondering this one Speaking of pondering, Stephone Anthony might be able to pull off being a DE on passing downs. We have had smaller. i am still in the Anthony corner. |

I don't think we get 5 games out of Kiki and wouldn't mind Kruger getting another 1 year deal. If we have to be weak I would rather it be on that end side where they have to deal with Ellerbe if the DE misses out.

Re: Potential of Draft Trades/Movement
Possible trades, moves this offseason?
Mark Ingram isn't going anywhere unless Payton takes Dalvin Cook or Leonard Fournette, and even then, in today's NFL, and if we and they learned anything from the Seattle Quakebowl, you've got to have two running backs...Ingram isn't going anywhere unless he has a meltdown, he's playing out his contract... Reality is we have two superior left tackles in Terron Armstead and Andrus Peat; Andrus Peat proved he's a terrific left tackle and really good left guard; Armstead has terrific value, when healthy; with several superior guard free agents, we could get a No. 1 for Armstead, but it'd be easier to sign a Right Guard (Kevin Zeitler) and draft another tackle. But the Saints front office could make a Real Jedi Move by moving Armstead for a first round pick (e,g, San Diego, Denver, Houston, and Seattle) and signing both RG Kevin Zeitler and LG Andrew Norwell and spreading the cap savings along the entire offensive line... Moving SS Kenny Vaccaro might be possible; he's always been considered to have a high ceiling in the league, even if he hasn't produced consistently as hoped and with Jabril Peppers likely to play SS in the NFL and still in our current draft range in round 1, that's certainly a possibility... Let me say it'd be completely asinine to trade Bradin Cooks, but the one doubt about his future in my mind could be the public airing of his grievances about his touches may not have sat well; the same behaviour got Stills traded, but this is Cooks and though Payton claims all players are equal, this is the NFL and even the Saints know the rules don't apply equally to all players because some players are more equal than others; Cooks value would never be higher and he's got a rookie option year coming up... Hau'oli Kikaha and Stephone Anthony are two other possibilities; they are better fits as 3-4 linebackers; problem is, both are coming off of injured reserve and they haven't gotten off to great starts (but saavy teams no it's because the Saints stink at defense and using talent on defense); one of 'em could be packaged with our first to move up to say No. 5 or with our second round pick to move into the back of the first (which would be my preference); If I had my choice, I keep and coach up Anthony who I feel just needs a really good coach (calling Dr. Nolan?) and he could be just as good in D.A.'s 4-3, and I trade Kikaha who's doesn't have the frame to play 4-3 end nor the speed to cover as a 4-3 OLB; he's a 3-4 rush linebacker and teams like the Steelers, Broncos, et al would welcome someone with his skill set... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: Potential of Draft Trades/Movement
With a 1st for Armsted and late 2nd or early 3rd for Vaccarro I think we could add some really good players on both side of the ball.

Re: Potential of Draft Trades/Movement
How many picks do we have this draft? Subtract 2 for moving up to select players who have past injuries and will never really get off the ground.
