Re: MudBugs VIII

Big Thanks to everyone helping. I'll always remember hosting III and IV,
and my ex wife, freaking out, going, "whos gonna help with this? and how much is all this gonna cost you... and do you even know some of these people?" blahblahblah... And I was like, "you dont understand. These are Louisiana people. They INVENTED The Party. They know how to make this stuff work. And we always ended up more than just fine, not to mention we didnt need groceries for a week, or soda, or sweets, etc. All it really cost me was three big yellow burn holes in my yard, which I was proud of. I wish I wouldnt have sold that house now. I miss the Swamphouse, but I dont miss the wife. I guarantee you'll be dazzled my new player-to-be-named-Later. Thank you for your patience with the crazy GF's in the interim.

In 8 years of MudBugs parties, some other guys among us have made positive personnel changes. You'll see, when you get there.

The Hou-Dats began in spring of '06, on the suggestion of Pope Ed XLIV (SuperDome) that, "Hey, Saints fans are all crazy and fun and good to hang out with. Why dont we all pick a bar in Houston & watch the games?" 4 people showed up tto watch an Astro's game, and audition various bars to see who wanted us for the '06 Season. We chose Big Woodrows, which at the time really hustled for us. Eventually we fell out, and moved us to Ragin Cajun. Since then, we've been wandering, the Latest has been The Boot. I really liked BB's Cafe. We should discuss some Hou-Dat business
Saturday, in a chill-ful manner.

But back to '06, bear in mind, our Saints were coming off a 3-11 Season. No one had any idea how good Brees & Colston, and our whole assortment of assorted players were going to be. We woulndt have dreamed we were going to begin 3-0, and end up in the NFC Championship. Even though we expected to suck again, everyone was so excited for another season, and to meet each other, and hang out.

We started small, and by the end of the year, our bar was breaking the Houston fire code, we were so packed with WhoDAts. It was as loud, exciting, and crazy as being in the Dome. Not to mention, we really seemed to bug the Texans fans in the bar, who handnt really hit their groove as fans yet.

Then as the Saints & Texans began playing each other, we did some tailgates... I remember the Blue Lot at Reliant looking like a Saints home game... (anyone got a picture of our Canopy Tent City?")

And by my math, it had to be spring of '09, when Hou-Yat said, "Let do a Crawfish Boil," and he and his awesome wife went all-out, and the first one rocked, and it was on. (somebody's gotta have a picture of us in that group shot." )

III and IV were at my old Swamphouse in Old River, TX, which looks like Louisiana, and by then we were getting people from NOLA, Lafayette, and even Slo-Mo from MICHIGAN drove down. We had a hell of a great time, and its been just outstanding to know people from B&G in Real Life. Not many sites have what we have here.

Anyway, the point of my long post here is to say thanks to everyone in advance for their awesomeness. I have a couple requests:

-- a couple throws from mardi gras... does anyone have a gold fleur I can wear? I lost my last one. Everyone gives me a pass for wearing beads past Fat Tuesday, since I am, by blood, a Texan. I also wear signed jerseys, a faux pas for most other fans. You dont care; You love me anyway, so long as I dont season the crawfish out of the boil. And I dont.

-- If you're coming from NOLA, can you bring one of those blingy gold umbrellas ?

-- someone always brings some cool random saints memorabilia item, to show us. I love this. I'm thinking my Dome Patrol era Saints Helmet will
make a fine centerpiece for a table.
