According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New Orleans Saints will need to add another assistant coach to the mix. Per the report, the New York Jets are making former wide receiver coach John Morton their new offensive coordinator.
Morton has been an integral part of the Saints for the past two seasons since coming over from the 49ers following 2014. He has plenty of offensive background, and was USC’s offensive coordinator from 2009-2011. Morton’s track record is highlighted from developments of Brandin Cooks, Willie Snead, and Michael Thomas, along with some progression from Brandon Coleman. Clearly, there’s many more. For those who’ve suggested, Curtis Johnson (a former Saints receivers coach) has a gig with the Chicago Bears, serving as their wide receivers coach. The Saints have not backfilled any of their five dismissed assistant coaches yet, and now you can add another that will need to be filled. Someone to keep an eye on would be Ronald Curry, who is an offensive assistant for the Saints. He worked with Morton in San Francisco, and the team could promote from within. Oh by the way, Morton and the Jets will come to town in 2017. Jets planning to hire Saints' John Morton: report | NOLA.com Last edited by SmashMouth; 01-29-2017 at 07:38 PM.. |

Re: Saints lose John Morton to New York Jets
Now that the Senior bowl is over we should be hearing the team announce the new additions who are brining in some fresh ideas. Morton did a fine job while he was here. I wish him well. Dang. Curtis Martin would have been great to bring home again.
