Fluke? Joe Horn: 1996 Kansas City Chiefs 9 0 2 30 15.0 21 1997 Kansas City Chiefs 8 0 2 65 32.5 1998 Kansas City Chiefs 16 1 14 198 1999 Kansas City Chiefs 16 1 35 586 2000 New Orleans Saints 16 16 94 1340 2001 New Orleans Saints 16 16 83 1260 2002 New Orleans Saints 16 16 88 1312 2003 New Orleans Saints 15 14 78 973 2004 New Orleans Saints 16 16 94 1399 ** Joe Horn was NOTHING before he was put in McCarthy's offense with Brooks as the QB. Fluke? Fast Facts: 1. Pathon had better stats with McCarthy/Brooks than what he had with Peyton Manning. 2. Willie Jackson had a probowl type year with McCarthy/Brooks. Willie never did anything before or after the Saints. 3. Joe Horn, much like Willie Jackson, was a complete unknown before coming to the Saints. Food for thought.. |

I don\'t think it was a fluke that these guys had better numbers in NO. It just goes to show that you have a lot better chance of catching the ball when you are on the field rather than watching from the sidelines.

Let me make it more clear. No dominant defense and Jake led his team to a sub .500 season. Wonder what kind of record Jake would have with the Saints 32nd ranked defense? Ooops [Edited on 19/3/2005 by GumboBC] |

In 3 years with the Saints, Pathon played 45 games. His first year with the Colts he was a rookie, and it is widely recognized that rookie WRs don\'t do much their rookie years. So did he really do that much more here? |

That is an interesting argument.
Pathon seems like an interesting example, but I\'ve got to agree with this criticism in the other cases - it is hard to do anything when riding the pine. Pathon is interesting evidence for ourQB not being as bad as some make out. On the other hand, some of the things he does are also evidence that he is that bad. I don\'t know what I think about this yet, but I\'m pretty sure that the Pathon evidence isn\'t all that strong by itself. What is the conclusion again? |
