Re: Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes meets with Saints; would love to learn from Drew Brees
Seth Russell has looked good. Trubisky throws a really pretty ball. He is on the money every throw. Peterman also looked good. I don't want Webb or the guy from central Michigan. Both looked like they had no control over the deep ball. Central Michigan guy could hardly throw a deep ball.

This isn't unusual towards the end of a career. From what I remember Peyton Manning's final set of contracts with Denver were essentially year to year. Brees has already made the committment. If he really wanted to leave, then all he needed to do was let his previous contract run out. He would be a free agent next week because the Saints cannot afford a $30 million+ franchise tag any more than anyone else. SFIAH |

As most have pointed out on here, when Brees goes, the next QB won't be near as good or really close to it. What's the point of grooming when Payton won't be here after Brees is done and he'll have to learn a whole new playbook?

Re: Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes meets with Saints; would love to learn from Drew Brees
The only reason to get a new QB this year is if Brees will only sign 1 year deals. The team cannot be held to ransom with a player like that.
Every year as the QB price increases he will want a rise(he has shown he wont play for a discount). The team has no leeway in cap savings, will always be paying the top rate for him,no signing him for 22ml a year early and watching others having to pay more. If he is unhappy or the team has a bad year he can just walk. Thats not a position to build a team on. If he wont sign a multi year deal i think you have to start looking elsewhere for stability. I dont want him gone by the way |
