0:49 PT: The AP reports Mike Ditka, who coached the 1985 Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears and later the New Orleans Saints, said he would like a shot at the Detroit Lions head coaching position, if the Lions don't hire Steve Mariucci. "I would come in and talk to them, if they had a definite interest," Ditka told The Detroit News for a Sunday story. "Just as a token and that stuff, no." Ditka said he considers himself a fall back candidate and wants Mariucci to take the Lions job.

I think Ditka took the Saints job to end the rumors once and for all that Buddy Ryan was the reason the Bears won the Super Bowl . Unfortunately for him , his Saints coaching term only proved the rumors correct .
