He's got the measurables we need opposite Cam Jordan, and I'd like this pick more, if we were in the 20-25 range of round 1; in fact, I like this pick more than the media popular of UT Derek Barnett, who's hit his ceiling and doesn't have the length we need for our scheme; if Reuben Foster is gone, I'd definitely like the idea of moving back some to get a DE like this...

No. 32 (R1, 32) QB Patrick Mahomes, Texas Tech; Height: 6' 2", Weight: 225 lbs.

Not sure we'll even have this selection if we acquire NE CB Malcolm in the Middle Butler. Don't like this selection, reminds me of Russell Wilson - overrated, nervous feet, can't make a read to save his life with the pressure on.

No. 42 (R2, 10) Fabian Moreau, UCLA; Height: 6’ 0”, Weight: 205 lbs.

I really like this pick and Moreau; but it'd be more likely he will be selected with the 32nd pick (if we kept it); this guy had a slow start to his Sr year with an injury; but he's physical and he can lock up under a receiver's chin and run with 'em all over the field...

No. 76 (R3, 12) DE Jordan Willis, Kansas St; Height: 6’ 3”, Weight: 260 lbs.

Another player I really love, who's really put on a helluva an audition this draft season; he's got just the right size to play the weak side DE; makes plays, forces turnovers, creates havoc and the Saints have a good history with K-State DEs (Darren Howard), but he'll be gone by the third round and like the previous pick, we'd need to take him with our second round pick...

No. 103 (R3, 39) TE Jake Butt, Michigan; Height: 6’ 5”, Weight: 245 lbs.

This seems a bit early for Butt's skill set; while I very much like the thinking of improving TE, Butt's a reach here and I'd rather get some depth at safety where plenty of options still should be here...

Round 6 (196) LB Jordan Evans, Oklahoma

If this would happen, it would be an absolute coup; I really believe he's going in the fourth/fifth round, but if he's there, this would be a real steal...
I would not be happiest camper to be honest. so this is a typical saints draft in my book.

OJ better be off the board at 11.

32 - Garret Bolles, Marcus Williams , T.J. Watt and even Obi Melifonwu better be off the board

42 Quincy Wilson Cordrea Tankersley and even Chris Godwin better be off the board

after that it is always a crap shoot.

I am totally with you on this...

I mean you want a pass rush and the best one is there on the board to come around in a decade... package #1 and #32 - send it to the Browns.

I also thought that if they fell in love with a LSU RB theat could move us up to 4? But then again its a LSU player.

Meet Gronk 2.0:

No. 42 (R2, 10) TE Adam Shaheen, Ashland; Height: 6’ 6”, Weight: 277 lbs.

If Watt makes it past Green Bay & Pittsburgh, but Moreau is gonna be special...

Bolles' baggage is a concern for a first rounder...

Marcus Williams is a late second round safety - Josh Jones will be better...

Obi-Wan Melifonwu? Workout warrior, Flavor of the Month - where was the fanfare this past season?

Don't be surprised if Watt is still there at 42; I'd really think about taking K-State DE Jordan Willis at this spot as well...

Re: Jeff Duncan's 2017 Saints Mock Draft 3.0

I just looked at 5 different "top draft prospects" articles- he falls between # 17 - 26 in all 5, near the higher end (23) in most
He has the size and seems like a character player, but probably not worth a top 15 pick
Really depends on what the Bengals do or what we think they'll do at #9

Re: Jeff Duncan's 2017 Saints Mock Draft 3.0

If he's slated by the so called experts to be a 17-26 pick, does it really matter if we pick him at 11?

He's still a 1st round pass rushing DE. Should we pass on a 1st round pass rusher because he's "slotted" to be picked a few picks later?

I just don't agree with that.

EVERY 1st round prospect has the talent to become all-world. IMO there's not much difference between an 11th or a 17th.

feel the same way if he grades out at 25? 11th round pick and money on 25th BPA?

That was high school stuff and look at the way he turned his life around. Besides we spent a first rounder on a LT and prayed he could be a RT. We still have not answered that need. Bolles is a swing OT that can swing at OG also. The only spot left on the OL in question is center. What more do you want out of a player you are grooming to take over for Zach?

Williams I stick with the tape. The kid is a natural ball hawk. Josh is a serious temptation

Agreed. I like the kid but his hyped value is way to high to risk the pick on him. He is really RAW

The only reason I agree is the fact he has only one year of tape to go by but I think a 34 team will scope him up before pick 32. Look at those freaking combing numbers he put up. Those are comparable to Khalil Mac

One thing bugs me about Willis. He only played on the left side of the DL his entire college career. I believe we set on that side. Call it the Peat based fear.

Arguably the best player in college football, DE Arden Key, is 6'6 238. 12 sacks and 3 FF last year.

Hagan, you did see he ran one of the fastest 40s when he wasn't even expected to break 4.6? He's obviously healed quite nicely...

I guess someone who can actually beat him out in open competition...

Prefer JJ, just a physical intimidator; Williams just doesn't instill fear of any kind...

And because we agree, the Saints will select him - SJB II - and it's GroundHog Day all over again...

If we have a shot at him, we gotta take it...

We've got just the defensive line coach to coach him up...

Re: Jeff Duncan's 2017 Saints Mock Draft 3.0

Just saw a mock that had us taking Barnett then riddick with 32. If we got that and either white or jones slipped to 42 that would b a perfect draft and trade next yrs 2nd to NE. That would b my ideal offseason. The de we need. A great lb. and the CB we need with a very promising young one as well. Thoughts?
