I'm not buying it

Who do we have that is going to be a "ball hawk"? because I don't see it, we can talk about getting better pressure all we want but we can't expect someone to step up and take the ball away among what we had. And safety is hard position to draft. So we're hoping the pass rush and improves and forces more third downs. I'm going to say maybe the defense is lucky enough to allow one less score, but by doing that, Brees has one more drive to do something. And if he doesn't, then we will find ourselves in the same position. Teams make big plays against us, they can adjust to smaller plays. I just don't think we have the solution to getting turnovers.

Re: I'm not buying it

We don't have to get any turnovers at all to be quite frank, getting off the field on 3rd down will solve literally every problem we have on defense.

Exactly. Turnovers will be gravy. Our offense can produce enough to win with the defense simply holding their own.

That's going to be so easy to do, right? Brees will play better at the 40 than the 20 too right? It was y'all that said Brees needed short fields. Let's see if this works against Green Bay and Detroit next year. Oh, and the bears no longer have Cutler either. They will be a problem as well. The schedule's better than last year for offenses against us or have the right balance to counter attack us.

Green Bay, New England are good on offense
Detroit, Minnesota, Chicago, Buffalo, LA are good on defense.

So we want to improve defensively to force punts but when we force them against the likes of the defensive teams, they're going to hit back. The saints, without turnovers, will not be able to execute the quick strike with Ingram like they did against TB.

Something tells me though we will win the division next year because the division is gonna suck.

Is there really a difference from the 20th place defense and the 31st?

F*** IT. No sense in even watching who we pick up in the draft let alone watch the damn games.

Seriously Will, if I went through life thinking like you all the time I would jump off a skyscraper.

Try to find some optimism in your post bro.

We will win the division because we've added depth, drafted well and stay healthy on defense. This is the NFL, nothing is easy.

Re: I'm not buying it

Will, I know one thing. I'd rather have the ball in Brees' hands regardless. I honestly don't care how the D give the ball back, as long as they do.

Turnovers come with pressure, we have been adding to our front 7 all offseason, but if the D gets off the field on 3rd down consistently, I'd be ecstatic.

Re: I'm not buying it

Last year, thanks to Davison, Rankins and Fairley, we finally didn't get destroyed by the run consistently badly for the first time in many years. That was a step forward. If we can just get better edge rushing along with one safety to be "our Harrison Smith" to help create additional havok, along with solid coverage and assignment football, then the defense will have arrived.

Give up, B_dub. Old Will(insert team name)81 appears to live off negativity.

So if the defense we had was healthy last year we win the division.

And don't get me started on the bone-headed move this FO is about to make. Butler is not a damn need.

How can I be optimistic when we didn't go all out for a big game-changing player. We could have gotten two. This FO has made it seem like we were several pieces away.

Byrd was viewed as a game changer, we spent 56 mil on him and got burned for 3 years.

Like it or not, we do better with the low cost signings, have done for years.

That was one of the things I loved about the '15 D. We'd get off the field and then by golly there'd be a god damn Flag and I'd be cursing Browner before I even knew who the flag was on, lol

If we get Butler, Draft Barnett and Moreau in the first we'll be set on defense and be in the top 10 with all the other moves we've made.

Who are the two "game changing" players the Saints had the cap room and need to get?

That was one player. Byrd was also injury prone and we knew that! those were just bad signings. You don't quit just because of that. I wanted us to get the league's attention this offseason, we didn't. People still think we're gonna suck outside of this fanbase.

Have you not been paying attention? What Moreau pick?

I made a serious valid post asking for where our turnovers were coming from and people wanted to make a big deal out of it. Whatever, it's the truth, we gave up a one-two punch half in our offense just to not have a disruptive defense?

Dude, why did you come back if this is the trash you're bringing to the forum?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't agree with you at all. The moves thus far have been great for the D. Not to mention the new position coaches... Great offseason so far and the draft is still to come. All we need is Butler and a starting DE from the draft, we could be looking at a top ten D.

If you don't think that's possible just remember where we were in 2012 and how we rebounded on D in 2013, from last to 4th in one year.

SP: Hey Mickey, what move can we make today to piss off Will?

Loomis: Well, let's see...(Secretary interrupts)
Mr. Loomis, Mr. Benson on line one.

Loomis: Take a message, Sean and I are planning our next move to piss off Will.

SP: I know, let's void Fairley's contract, let him walk, trade that guy we got from the Pats for Cooks and use both our first round draft picks on offense.

Loomis: Outstanding Sean. I can't wait for tomorrow so we can come up with something else to piss off Will since we have nothing else better to do.

Insert any team owner, GM or head coach into that scene and it will still work for Will(insert your team here)81. :)
