I think Sean's too old. I hope Johnny talked him out of it.

Did RGIII sign with anyone? I'd pick him out of the two.

I love that this is 'just now' hitting the news wire. It really is a no story.

I will not root for Johnny Manziel

No there are too many things wrong with this. For one, while y'all may "like" him now, the thought of Bieber attending saints games makes me want to vomit.

Please no........please no.......please no.

This better not happen.

It's about both. Manziel is close with him. If Payton was talking with him it is simply because of

Think back to the 2014 draft. If we would've drafted Manziel instead of Cooks would you have been OK with it then. You have to admit that Johnny has some skills and just like Coach said he's a winner. No he hasn't been a choir boy the last 3 years but he's still young and the talent is still there. If we can get him for nothing and he pans out to be Drew's replacement we could have the 2nd best steal ever in the NFL's history. The first was Drew! If he doesn't work and stay out of trouble it will have been his last chance and he will become just another Leaf in the wind!

Re: Johnny Manzel and Sean Payton discuss return to football

Geez, people. Ian Fullacrap tweets about Payton having breakfast with Manziel during the Super Bowl week. That was almost TWO months ago. So they talked about football. What the hell else would they talk about? The Oscars? French literature? Payton was probably telling him he sucked and needed to get his act in shape and MAYBE then he might make a CFL squad.

Why the hell is anyone around here thinking that a chance meeting two months ago has any relevance to our roster today. How do y'all make these weird assed leaps?

There is NOTHING happening. THAT is the point.

Re: I will not root for Johnny Manziel

If it was someone who was a murderer aka Ray Lewis and Michael Vick, I'd understand not rooting for him.

But Manziel is just a stupid kid who let the fame and bright lights go to his head.

It's most likely a bogus report, but Anthony Hargrove was a convicted druggie and managed to turn it around.

You're acting like Manziel is a murderer and that's why no one should root for him. If it happens, it happens, but he'd be extremely easy for any team to get rid of as he's on such a short leash already.

Maybe sitting behind Brees for 2 years could remake this young man

Why are y'all even talking about this? Fullacrap tweets something trival that happened two months ago because he isn't getting any attention and all of a sudden people have him being the heir apparent. Exactly when was the last time that Ian Fullacrap Rapoport actually "reported" something that was actually a story?

... crickets ...

Exactly.

The only place he has a chance of sitting behind him is in a movie theater.

I have said it before. I hope he can turn his life around and get on the right track.

When it comes to playing football with the Saints, I like high character guys that work hard and keep their mouths shut. Then we got the outliers, Shockey was one and it took me a long time to warm up to him but he was good for us.
Manziel has as much talent as he has issues and I guess that is his biggest problem.

I honestly dont care
If they bring him in and Payton thinks he can
A) Handle him
B) Get something out of him
C) Th deal is team friendly

Go for it

No team would touch him for any more than league minimum and he'd be on the shortest leash possible.

Having someone like Drew there could turn his life around, in my eyes you can't possibly lose, just get rid of the guy if he messes up in terms of behaviour.

This is that same "dude" who had some to believe that Brees would be traded last season. Most posters here have more insight on the Saints than Ian.
