Um no, this is cra cra. What we will do is trade up and getting LF. From there we will become a run heavy team and put Brees on cruise control much like Trent Dilfer, just sit back and manage easy throws. Defense will improve enough to stop lethargic offenses that hardly see the field.

Re: Saints Pick Christian McCaffrey RB at #11
He's more comparable to Darren Sproles than Reggie Bush. Sproles was more productive, but Bush was more important. Bush could run routes better than most receivers and he was tall for his position. He was a threat even with a corner back on him. You can't say the same for McCaffrey or Sproles. Bush also commanded far more attention from the defense because his speed was in a different world from the other two players. If we need a Reggie Bush...then just sign Reggie Bush. Go defense.

Re: Saints Pick Christian McCaffrey RB at #11
Reggie would have had a better career as a CB IMO. Size, speed, does not like getting hit...believe he played DB once in a college game due to depth chart injuries. I firmly remember it but not the actual game. He still had a solid career but I think he could have been in the HOF as a DB. He had the speed and agility to cover anyone.

Reggie is done. I wouldn't mind adding McCaffrey.........just not at 11 and don't want to trade up for him.

Re: Saints Pick Christian McCaffrey RB at #11
Christian McCaffrey's 5 best fits in 2017 NFL Draft (Pick No. 11 or No. 32)
New Orleans is in play for the hometown hero Fournette, but there's a strong chance he'll be gone before that initial first-rounder. And really, McCaffrey is the better all-around back for the Saints' offense, so the question is: Are they willing and able to a) use that higher pick on him b) trade down from 11th to get him at a more comfortable spot or c) trade up from 32nd to get him before he's gone, too? The span between the picks also represents the wide range of McCaffrey's current draft value. Having two high picks post-Brandin Cooks gives the Saints a chance to address a defensive need early and also go offensive luxury to address their closing window with Drew Brees at the helm. Given how Mark Ingram disappointed last season, a back of McCaffrey's caliber is more of a necessity than they would like to admit. McCaffrey would have a big, immediate impact with any role in a loaded, rebooted attack. |
Re: Saints Pick Christian McCaffrey RB at #11
We could have McCaffrey, Fournette, Peterson and O.J. ****in' Simpson in his prime and still be thrown' the ball on damn near every down! We haven't been a running team under Peyton and we ain't never gonna be a running team.

"Given how Mark Ingram disappointed last season..."
5.1 yards per carry on over 200 carries. That's the 5th highest YPC in the NFL last year. I hope he disappoints like that again next season. |
