Mixon?

Whatever came of Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon's interaction with the New Orleans Saints prior to his pro-day workout, he made a strong enough impression to at least get a second look from the club.

If he's there when the Saints second 3rd rd pick comes up, run to the podium.

I'm hoping we get him. Best all around back in the draft as far as I'm concerned.

I disagree. He's a good back but he is about 4 on my list. I do have him ahead of Cook though. Someone will take him early in the 2nd I'm sure of it. Cleveland needs a running back and unless LF7 goes #1 they won't have a chance at him. He will never make it past Carolina.

I'd prefer him over McCaffrey.

I'd prefer using our third pick for a RB than our second.

Which made me throw up a little.

I hope Lasco gets some playing time, he should have got more playing time especially in the final weeks to see what he can do.

Don't sleep on Danny Lasco in year 2.

Re: Mixon?

Talent wise? no doubt pick 11

far left radical extremist he is done in football

national media third

If he nails these one on one interviews with teams and all the back ground checks came back normal. he is gone in the second.

Will Roger make in know no team can pick him before the third? you bet. Roger is god

If the saints pick him look for Ingram's role on this team to become less and for once cap causality could come into play. More likely trade bait.

That's the issue with drafting a back like Mixon. He can do everything Ingram can do and much more.

i would not pass on McCaffery at all. He would be a great complement to Mixon.

While it lasted Ingram Mixon and McCaffrey would be a scarey mix to face

I expect nothing from him to be honest
He performed one year in college and was injured for a large part of his last year and got on the field 7 games last year. He has a long way to go,if he makes the cut fatastic but having him as anything but a shot between 3/4th string RB is not a good idea

Mixon's got some very impressive stats;

4.43 40
35" vertical jump
4.25 Shuttle
9' 10" broad jump

And a wicked right cross

People can say what they want. Perhaps he needs to matrue and use restraint in the future but when someone attacks you I don't fault him for attacking back in defense.

Woman or not - Look if they don't want to be hit then they shouldn't go around attacking men. THey think they get a free pass because they are female. No.

If he only have called the police instead of reacting.

Even with his off the field issues, he won't drop that far. He's gone by day 2 of the draft.

I've been slapped in the same manner (more than once), but had the self-constraint to not respond. Not easy, but it is a measure of one's maturity. If he can show that he learned from the incident, I can see him being a model citizen moving forward.

I, too have been in a similar situation more than once. And I will admit that there was one time I did hit back. Now it wasn't nearly as vicious as this and it was with an open hand, but I immediately regretted it and never did it again. Mistakes happen, good people learn from them and move on.

While I agree, I've worked pretty hard through my life to never get into that situation to begin with.

I generally wont defend someone for that and still wont defend him.

But id like to have tbe audio of what happened there. As he seems to walk away and she says something, pushes him then takes a swing at him.

Either way his reaction is extreme but id like to know what was said

Eff him. I watched his aplology, and he apologized more to his mom and his teammates than he did to the girl. The onlyy thing he's sorry about is that he got caught and that it was on video.

WOuld you say the same thing if the one that attacked him was a guy?

Re: Mixon?

What that it was a extreme response?

If so still yes
He outweighed the person by a alot snd could easily have tried to defuse the situation first. That wasn't a first reaction for self defense,no seperating himself,no pushing the person away it was pure aggression. .

At the end of the day he is a fully grown 200lb man. Even had she slapped him he could have step backed and walked away, had she continued to attack him then by all means defend yourself

He's a big boy now and hopefully he's learned how to defend himself in a big boy fashion.

I don't know what all the fuss about Mixon is, he will go to Cincinnati or Kansas City and have a good career.

He'll be long gone before the Saints should use a draft pick on a RB.

I may be a little partial to justice being served, but I wish the NFL would just bar punks like this from being drafted at all.

Hold them to the fire a little bit to try to produce a more humble, genuinely repentant person.

That happened years ago, not yesterday. Who is to say he isn't already "a more humble, genuinely repentant person."

WillMacKenzie 03-31-2017 05:48 PM

Re: Mixon?

Doesn't matter if he did it yesterday or 40 years ago, doesn't mean he can't play in the NFL -- just can't be drafted. I'm speaking of setting a precedent as much as I'm speaking of this individual case.

We could speculate if he's more repentant or not, but why speculate, when we could just apply the punishment to everyone, regardless?

Mixon gets a no vote from me.

frydaddy 03-31-2017 06:51 PM

Re: Mixon?

I don't really think doling out justice and punishment belongs within the NFL's authority. Not for things outside of the game itself. They already have a bit too much reach as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Mixon?

The young man has one very stupid, highy reactive, impulsive incident, where the young woman was far from innocent, and he should be banned for life? Come on. What Vick did was far worse in my opinion and he was given a second chance. If he's there in the third, you draft him because he's a great football talent. If he screws up again, he's out. The Saints have Ingram and Lasco. Plus, the Saints can get a high quality back in rounds six and seven. I personally think the Saints will pass on him regardless.

Let some other team take that chance...

We got rid of Junior Galette for similar reasons (i.e. Beach Belt Party) and took a helluva salary cap hit to make the point...

If we're gonna be consistent in our standards, Mixon shouldn't see the inside of the Saints' locker room not make our board...

And irregardless of the girl's past, he still showed his punk nature when he bullied, then sucker-punched her - video doesn't lie...

And I don't remember Michael Vick wearing the black and gold, what the other kids do has no bearing on our team...

Re: Mixon?

Due diligence.

For all we know, Mixon could turn into a Tyrann Mathieu type of player. Lots of problems in college and goes to the pro and becomes and outstanding running back and model member with no off-field issues.

For Sean Payton to even visit with the guy speaks volumes about Mixon's ability. It will be interesting to see where he lands.
