this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I don't think safety is a must, but its pretty damn close. If Hooker, Adams or Peppers are there at 11, I won't complain if we pick one. They are difference makers....

Re: SAFETY priority ?????
Wouldn't have a problem with Peppers but not at 11. With Byrd being gone we need a safety. I almost wish we gave byrd one more year. He was looking healthy the last few games of the season.

Re: SAFETY priority ?????
Peppers can already line up anywhere. RB's or TE's out of the backfield no problem, in the slot no problem, blitz like an animal no problem, cover a #2 or #3 WR no problem, I watched Dion Sanders ask Maylock what he didn't like about Peppers at the combine with that little smirk he has and it just reassured me of what I liked about this kid. At pick 11 I have not 1 problem with this kid. I think he could make a great SS or a good FS.

I'd much rather a DE or even a LB before Peppers.

Re: SAFETY priority ?????
I would love Peppers in the 3 Safety set. A blitzing machine that can cover with the best of them. Pick him at 11? I would not, wait till 32 and jump all over him.

Re: SAFETY priority ?????
Safety was never a priority in my mind.....but damn. We need another FS in a bad way. Byrd was a bit of a head scratcher, but the cost vs. production didn't represent good value.
