I'm pretty sure we're going to take Joe Mixon in the 2nd or 3rd round now.

Re: Jeff Duncan's 2017 Saints Mock Draft 4.0

Quiet liked this draft from Charlie on WalterFootball

11. New Orleans Saints: Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan

The Saints could use another edge rusher and a cornerback upgrade. Here's an end to pair with Cam Jordan. From what I've heard from sources, the Saints love Charlton, so I don't think they would pass on him.

Entering the 2016 season, Charlton flashed for Michigan but was mainly a backup and also was used inside at tackle. In 2016 though, he racked up 9.5 sacks, 43 tackles and 13 tackles for a loss as the bookend defensive end with the stout Chris Wormley. The 6-foot-6, 277-pounder Charlton is athletic with versatile size and length to be a base end in a 4-3 defense or a standup linebacker in a 3-4. Charlton is fast, explosive, and has serious upside to develop in the NFL. Teams feel he could go top-10 and should go top half of the first round.

32. New Orleans Saints: Obi Melifonwu, SS, Connecticut

The Saints cut Jairus Byrd, and this pick makes a ton of sense for what Melifonwu can do for their defense. With his size, speed, and ability to cover, Melifonwu can match up in man on Mike Evans, Kelvin Benjamin or Greg Olsen. Melifonwu also would be helpful in double-teaming Julio Jones, or walking down to be the eighth man in the box. The only question is if Melifonwu makes it to this pick.

Melifonwu has ideal size with length to help defend receivers. The 6-foot-4, 219-pounder had an excellent week at the Senior Bowl to ignite a buzz about him that he carried over into a tremendous performance at the combine. Melifonwu has a great combination of size and speed. He has the cover skills to play corner on big receivers, can be the deep free safety, and also is able to come down in the tackle box. In a matchup league, Melifonwu gives his defensive coordinator the solution to a lot of problems.

In 2016, Melifonwu totaled 118 tackles with three passes broken up and four interceptions. With his skill set, he could have a steady rise in the leadup to the 2017 NFL Draft

42. New Orleans Saints: Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida

The Saints could use more cornerback talent.

After losing Vernon Hargreaves to the NFL, Wilson replaced him as Florida's starter alongside Jalen Tabor. Sources with multiple teams graded the 6-foot-1, 211-pound Wilson as a second-rounder, and team evaluators feel that Wilson has above-average speed to go along with his size. In 2016, he totaled 33 tackles with six passes broken up and three interceptions. Sources also feel Wilson has above-average feel and awareness. He is good at running the route to prevent separation with the size to take on big receivers.

Wilson is a longer press-man corner for the NFL with ball skills, but scouting sources say that there are aspects that Wilson needs to improve. He grabs at receivers a lot and could get called for pass interference penalties in the NFL. They also say that he lacks instincts and has some limitations in scheme. Wilson's best fit would be as a longer press-man corner. Thus, he will need some development.

76. New Orleans Saints: ArDarius Stewart, WR, Alabama

The Saints grab a slot receiver to replace Brandin Cooks.

Stewart (5-11, 204) is a sleeper receiver who could be a nice value pick. He totaled 54 receptions for 864 yards and eight touchdowns as a junior. Stewart is tough recevier with functional speed. Teams are grading Stewart as a late second-round to early third-round pick.

103. New Orleans Saints: Davis Webb, QB, California

The Saints grab an understudy to Drew Brees.

In 2016, Webb completed 62 percent of his passes for 4,295 yards with 37 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The graduate transfer has a strong arm and can make some well-placed passes downfield. He also has good size and stands tall in the pocket. Webb shows some field vision to work through his progressions, but he doesn't have mobility for the NFL. In terms of the critical characteristic of accuracy, Webb has potential. Sources say Webb (6-4, 229) can be erratic, but that they like him enough to think of him as a potential second-day pick. California's offense does a poor job of preparing quarterbacks for the NFL - see Jared Goff -, so Webb will have to learn calling plays in the huddle, working under center, traditional footwork for a pro quarterback, and running NFL plays instead of California's Bear Raid college plays.

Odd that he thinks we'll get Malcolm Butler AND trade our 32nd to Cleveland.

I would love this! Especially if we added Tyus Bowser in the 2nd round.
