Jamal Adams at #11?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Totally agree about not reaching for a player. Our defense has very few top quality players. Jamal Adams would be an immediate upgrade. Doubt that he makes it to #11...

Adams won't make it past the Jets at #6...

IDK. It is the Jets we are talking about. They remind me of how the Saints use to be. Even so I agree. Its highly unlikely he will be there.

Here's the question then: If Adams truly is an immediate upgrade, dare say it having the potential to be Marcus Peters' level of talent, then why not reach? The Saints current #11 and #32 have a total value of a #4.

Is the potential of having the potential of one exceptional player worth the cost of drafting two players who likely will never be exceptional?

I understand the value if a top 5 guy drops to 11. But I'm unsure of the value of a #11 and #32 that will never reach the potential of a top 5 guy.

Thoughts?

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

Just playin devil's advocate here...

Because there's no guarantee how any draft pick will turn out. The odds are better with a top five pick but definitely not a certainty. So why not take two shots at getting a stud rather than one?

And then there's another unknown, assuming all the draft picks do pan out relative to their draft status, does having one stud outweigh having two really good players.

I think it just comes down to how convinced the team is that a certain player is exactly what they need.
