I doubt he ends up here. Payton has already commented on what a great RB class this is.

I think we go the draft route on a RB.

Besides, I don't think AP receives out of the backfield much.

I don't really see the fit now that I think about it. AP doesn't really catch passes or pass block and primarily runs from the I-formation.

Nobody ever really tried to utilize him as a pass catcher out of the backfield. Every coach he's ever had just lined him up and ran him down the throat of the opposition. He's definitely horrible in pass protection though.

With all that said, would I sign Adrian Peterson? Hell yeah...and I'd still draft Joe Mixon in the 3rd. We haven't had anybody remotely close to the level of Adrian Peterson running the ball since Deuce McAllister.

Good points Rez. I guess maybe skill-set wise AP would be a little like Chris Ivory was in our offense. Pretty one-dimensional but after he stiff-arms a couple Failclowns we'll be very happy!

Does he "have to have" 20+ touches to get going? He wouldn't get a ton of carries each game.

Re: AP Coming for a visit???

The real benefit of AP is going into singleback and the defense having to respect his ability. He puts defenders in the box and opens up the rest of the offense. I know AP was rushing 1.7 yards per carry last year before the injury, but what you didn't see was the Vikings passing attack was going off because people were making Sam Bradford beat them - which he did.

I think he'd be a situational guy for us. I don't see him ending up here. In reality he probably was invited over so Payton can mask something for the draft. And if he does sign here, it'd probably have to be cheap.

On a side note...why isn't Peterson signed yet? Is he asking too much?

Reminds me of Steven Jackson. Has something left in his tank but can't stay healthy. I think the Saints have had enough of that.

I'm in full speed no matter what the job.

Ingram doesn't play a full season. Who are we left with? AP would be killer for 3-4 games in a row. Or down the playoff stretch.
