Same Sad Song

The best way for me to express how I feel about the Saints is to tell you with my specialty, the analogy.

To me the Saints are like that old song "The Cat's in the Cradle". Follow me now. I hear this song once a year and when it ends I'm sad. Even though I know when it starts that by the end I'll be in a melancholy mood, I listen to the darn song anyway. No matter how many times I hear it, it's always sad. But I keep listening to it because I love the song.

I keep watching the Saints because like the song, I love em. Even though I know that by the end of the year I'll be sad, I root and watch anyway. I'll never change the station when that song comes on, and I'll never stop loving the Saints.

So my question to you all is this. How can Benson, the FO, the coaches, the players, the fans, hell anybody, how can we turn this same sad song into one that will make us happy in the end? Give me three "simple" ways to turn all these years of a sad team into a champion. Three ways to turn our frown upside down.

we have a chance. we have the team if they play the way they should. im not sure of talent or anything else but you cant play one way for 12 games and then play completely diofferent for 4 and say we dont have a shot at being a lot better. ill go into this season with hope. that maybe lights have come on and now were actullay ready to play the way we should. maybe were getting rid of some of the crap and by doing so we have players that want to play. because in all honesty i think that has been our biggest problem. we just didnt have guys that wanted to play. i hope that that is the problem and we turn it around this year

Your team stinks

there is hope with todays nfl parity. if they would have eeked into the playoffs last year they might have actually made some noise since they were on a hot streak. plenty enough teams have big turnarounds these days since there is so little diff from the top to the bottom. carolina to the superbowl or san diego 4-12 to 12-4 last year. so way #1 is just a little more luck with improved play.

after the non playoff 32-32 run i would have liked to have seen a lot more overhaul similar to minnesota. but that is just me. as far as long term/big picture, i think the most significant positive change that could happen is ownership. benson has very little football smarts. he only became a fan after he bought the team in his 50\'s. compare that to the rooney family owning the steelers since 1933. benson doesnt have the fire or passion to win. compare him to al davis or jerry jones. benson interest is in being profitable as much or more than it is the team\'s success. compare him to the growing number of owners who want to buy and own their stadiums or the albeit reckless but obvious willingness to throw one\'s own cash as a dan snyder. he ain\'t the head of the nfl finance committee for nuthin\'. he is old enough to croak anytime. it appears the team will stay in his family with his granddaughter taking over the lead. this is a real wild card. could be better or worse. way #2 is ownership other than benson. troops only succeed to the ability of their general\'s leadership, not beyond.

the third way is to get rid of aaron brooks. this will cure even the defensive ills. LOL. nah, two ways is enough tonight.
