Anyone else out there just shake their head when some silly historical stat is mentioned? My favorite of the moment is "the last time the Saints opened their season on Monday night, they were defeated by the 49ers 13-12". Who freakin' cares? Is there anyone on the team from that time even remember that game? How many folk on the forum were even born then? How does this impact the upcoming game in any way shape or form? Stats are for baseball players and bean counters. Historical stats are for.... I have no idea.

Hey was I was born and watched that game.

Stats do matter especially with the latest trend of 'money ball' - you are about to get a huge tatse of it from the Pats this year.

Although what matters is the correct stats. I agree with you that stat means nothing but what a RB gets you on a specifc down and out does matter.
