Some fans are concerned about losing WR Jerome Pathon. But, I think Devery will bring something to this offense that will open things up for other players like Donte' Stallworth and the TEs.

DEVERY HENDERSON:
BIO: Led the SEC in receiving touchdowns as a senior posting career numbers of 53/861/11. Started one as a junior and posted 23/447/8. Performed well at the Senior Bowl and was the best receiver on the field.

POSITIVES: Explosive pass-catcher that continually shows progress in his overall game. Quick releasing off the line, good route runner and gets separation from defenders. Comes back to the ball, extends and makes all the catches. Tracks the deep ball, adjusting well at full speed. Explosive and elusive in all aspects of his game. Displays a sense of timing, quickly transitions from making the reception from running after the catch then picks up positive yardage. Shows a second gear beating defenders down the. Deceptively strong and shields opponents from the action with his frame.

NEGATIVES: Does not have a lot of starting experience. Wore down at the Senior Bowl as the week progressed.

ANALYSIS: A terrific athlete with a good amount of upside potential, Henderson has quickly turned into a complete wide out. His quickness coupled with route running skills make him a perfect fit in a West Coast offense yet his overall receiving skills can be plugged into any system.

I\'m all about Devery, have been since we drafted him. He has good size and is very fast. If he catches the ball at the least as well as Pathon, he definitely would be more explosive after the catch. Of course this is counting on the fact he will be delivered the ball in a position to make a play and not be knocked out 1 step after he gets it. SO let\'s say if he gets decent balls sent his way, he will be better than Pathon and will probably challenge Donte.

Wow, I think he put up better stats than Michael Clayton, didn\'t he?
I guess that would make him better than Clayton Huh?

Danno, I am with you on the whole stats thing. They are overrated. I use them when they are thrown at me. And they hardly ever tell the whole picture. BUT, the general opinion was Clayton was the better overall and definitely more polished receiver coming out of LSU, while Devery had the bigger upside. We\'ll see if it\'s true.

I liked Pathon a lot. But someone (I forget who) nailed it when they said he was a posession WR with a speedster\'s body.

We all have high hopes for Deverey. He has a ton of talent (Oops, I\'ll probably be asked to prove it with a bunch of links ). Of all our WR\'s I can\'t see anyone getting worse. Not even an aging Joe.

I also have high hopes for Gardner. I\'ve read he has some talent.

The only thing that worries me now are injuries. Imagine Joe and Donte missing games.
Henderson, Gardner, and Lewis? Yikes!

Is it possible Jerome could re-sign for less money?

He could, but he also just visited Seattle. We\'ll see how that plays out. I would operate under the assumption Joe and Donte won\'t both get hurt though. To me, if such were to happen, I don\'t see Pathon, Henderson, and Gardner as much of an upgrade over Henderson, Gardner and Lewis. I hope we look at Henry as a receiver to bring in and learn and maybe replace Joe down the line.

I won\'t ask for any links on Gardner, cause he was a late round pick and not much was expected from him anyway, so I am not gonna question any talent he may or may not have. Thanks for your little jabs though, :P

Yeah, stats are worthless. Like, if you were to actually look at the stats, you might find that in 42 games, Henderson had 89 rec. for 1,311 yards and 19 TDs at LSU. Clayton, on the other hand, played in 39 games, but had 182 rec. for 2,582 yards and 21 TDs.

I love all of his stats, but this is something most of you might not know......

HE DID NOT PLAY LAST SEASON!!!
does that bother anyone other than me?

Our damn 7th round pick STARTED games, Devery didnt even play. Until he catches his first past, and takes it 75 yards for a TD, i consider him bench space.

Brett Favre didn\'t start his first season, either. All it means to me is that Haslett didn\'t give the kid a chance. And since Haslett said that Devery would be the 3rd receiver this year, I don\'t consider it to be \"bench space\".

I think DH holding out last year pissed the club off and they never really gave him a chance after that. I like some of what DH did in pre-season and practice , making me think he\'s a playmaker. (lets hope)
