About the Joker RB thing
I can't help but wonder - did the Saints take a look at the guy who, if healthy (and indeed it is a huge, huge IF) is the ultimate Joker RB?
There's a pretty good chance the injuries have put a damper on Jamaal Charles' career and he will be a shadow of his former self indeed. But if Charles has a second wind and could get his old self back, could you imagine what he and Brees could do playing together? Would this have been a better gamble than AP? |

Rather than spend that kind of draft capital, wouldn't it have been better to sign one or two veterans to compete in camp and bridge to next year's draft. For where we slotted into after that trade, we could have added a number of players who would seen more snaps than Kamara will... We could have had DE Jordan Willis, LG Dan Feeney, DE Chris Wormley, DE Dawuane Smoot, WR Cooper Kupp or LB Duke Riley... |

Yeah but, Sean needs his toys. I think he feels he's close enough that the joker'll make his the winning hand. His biological clock is ticking loudly. Another season running in the red could easily see him back coaching QBs at Dallas.

Re: About the Joker RB thing
Jamaal Charles is a different kind of gamble in that he's almost always hurt. AP has had some injuries in recent years, but has usually come back strong, and just two years ago ran for almost 1500 yards. I think AP has plenty left in the tank for right now, but with Charles I just think it's too many injuries piled on top of each other. That would have been too much of a gamble.
I think the reason they drafted Kamara, whether it was right or not, is that they saw a guy with first round talent sitting there in the third and thought to themselves "Ingram and Peterson won't be around forever, so why not draft our guy now, and work him in slowly, rather than have to replace those guys a couple of years from now with a rookie". Obviously, they can use Kamara in a Sproles/Bush type role, but unlike what most pundits are saying, I don't think he's quite that type of player. He is a good receiver, but I wouldn't define him as a scat back. He's a bit better of an all around RB, at least on paper. I really think they view him as the main guy in a couple of years. I wouldn't have picked him there, though I do think he is a good value for what he is, but I'm trying think along with the Saints on this one to figure out what the reasoning was. |

Kamara is the chess piece Sean Payton needs. We didn't have anyone besides Cadet to play that joker role.......hopefully this means Cadet is cut. I know that Payton likes his reliability but he is just nothing more than dependable. I want dynamic plays from RB and I think Kamara can offer us that.

I don't see Charles as the scat back.
Keep in mind a draft pic we lock up at a good price for a few years instead of a decent pay check for a year maybe? And when he is out for the season then what? |

With the additions of AP, Ginn and now a young Kamara, this offense could be deadly in 2017. |
