Re: Saints way to early 2018 NFL Draft
Well, there's the old adage that if you fail to learn from your history, you're doomed to repeat it.
And there are strikingly similar parallels to the when the Saints let Nicks walk and signed Grubbs. Warford may be fine with Strief and Unger (eventually) on either side of him, then why spend that money? Why couldn't Loomis do his job and just spend a bit more as he's good at and get a difference maker in Zeitler? |
Re: Saints way to early 2018 NFL Draft
Well, hopefully the Saints will be drafting very late in Round 1 as a result of their successful 2017 season...
If they haven't fixed the pass rush their are two prospects I've already targeted for the 2018 draft... DE Sam Hubbard, Ohio St.; Height: 6' 5", Weight: 266 lbs. Why the Saints? Payton loves Ohio State. Hubbard is a true base end for a 4-3. He's makes impact plays. DE Bradley Chubb, NC State; Height: 6' 4", Weight: 275 lbs. Why the Saints? New DL coach Ryan Nielsen coached him at NC State. Again, he's a true 4-3 base end. Last year 10.5 sacks and of his 58 tackles from the end position, 22 were for loss! DE Marcel Frazier, Missouri; Height: 6' 4", Weight: 265 lbs. Why the Saints? IF LSU is DB University, then Missouri is DE University and these DEs have a high floor. Frazier played the strong side and was really putting it together by season's end. The 2017 season should see a nice progression from Frazier. DE Porter Gustin, USC; Height: 6' 5", Weight: 266 lbs. Why the Saints? Faces elite OTs in practice and in the Pac 10 playing for USC. When watching his tape, reminds me of Howie Long (when Long would play DE). Hasn't finished growing yet! Kid is an absolute monster and if he makes the leap, should see his stock soar. Okay, so I'm focused on DE, let me throw this out there... DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, Bama; Height: 6' 1", Weight: 205 lbs. Why the Saints? If LSU is DB Univ and Mizzou is DE Univ, Bama is First Round Univ (well, mostly). This kid literally takes a way half the field and the only problem you'll have is whether you play him at CB or Safety. LB Jack Cichy, Wisconsin; Height: 6' 2", Weight: 235 lbs. Why the Saints? Really, really starting to like this Wisconsin team where they're not afraid to not only play, but start Walk-Ons! Reminds me of a Pro Team in the NFC South. Kid can flat out cover from the LB position. |

Re: Saints way to early 2018 NFL Draft
2018 Saints Top Draft Needs:
(1) Quarterback (2) Tight End (3) Center (4) Defensive End (5) Wide Receiver Obviously very fluid between now and the draft, but this is where I'd say we currently are... |
