Re: Jimmy Graham return in 2018?

The high dollar paydays for Graham should be over, if that is the case the Saints should make every effort into signing him. I do not like him as a starting TE, but would love him in a reserve roll for special packages/situations. Could easily be a major red zone threat for the Saints. If anyone could get him to come back, it would be Drew Brees.

Not overly keen to be honest
His hands looked terrible at the weekend. But for a 6/7th rounder he would at least give a good red zone option

I would agree if there was a young TE he would hold back.
But the TE are pretty poor and i think Fleener is a restructure or cut come march

Other than he played here before, why would we be in the mix to acquire a 30 year old with declining skills at a position where we have three decent players?

Throw in bad blood, and I'm guessing NO

After watching him drop 2 catchable pass in a contract year, I don't think he is focus or football is not up their as a priority. He just don't look as hungry for the game anymore.

I'm not 'all excited' to bring him back for sure, but I suspect Jimmy got to Seattle all excited and realized he made a grave miscalculation.

I don't see it happening personally. But weirder things have happened. He was much better here then he is in Seattle. Which seems to be case with almost all offensive players that leave NOLA.

Intensity is really not a trait I would use describing Graham.
If he's cheap why not. He's familiar with system and has to be an upgrade over what we have. I agree about the burned bridges part. Didn't he say something on twitter about happy to be leaving Saints? Could have been someone else telling him that he should be. I can't remember.
Anyway I don't think Seattle ever used him to his strengths.

Nope, guy burned his bridges here when he kept congratulating players for signing with other teams.

Shame, he could have been a hall of famer here. Our offense is better without him regardless.

Where is the bad blood? From everything I have read he would love to be back with the Saints and he is still very, very tight with Brees.

He said some things on his way out that rubbed a lot of "us" the wrong way.

Now, I don't think Sean and Drew were as bothered as some of us were about his comments. Business is business after all.

That's what I meant. It doesn't matter what fans think, he had always remained on good terms with both Brees and Payton. And those things he said weren't that big of a deal. Yes, he congratulated a couple of former teammates for signing good free agent deals elsewhere. That's pretty common practice between friends.

I wouldn't mind him being back as another weapon if he learned anything about blocking while he was abroad.

I just remember him saying in one of his press conferences; that as soon as Drew retired that he would quit because he didn't want anyone else throwing to him...

He was traded shortly thereafter; then he had to learn how to block

His tweet to Akiem Hicks said " So blessed you got out of there," Jeff Duncan reported it.

All the fans that will b1tch about his commemts on the way out need to remember he never asked to leave. Signed a big deal thinking he would be here long term and gets traded. Also those shouting the loudest will soon pipe down and sing his praises if he caught the game winning TD in Atlanta

That was part of it. It also said, "Time to go shine big dog. All the best. Good luck."

It was meant to be a direct message and was deleted right away. Hicks had become another one of those square pegs in a round hole. He was blessed to get traded to a better fit.

But, it chapped the ass of some fans. Nothing that would burn any bridge, for certain.

Speaking of Akiem Hicks ...

He's been playing well for the Bears as of late.

Well I'll sing his praises so long as he's wearing black and gold and doesn't suck too much.

He may not have asked to leave, but he might as well have when he 'allowed' his agent to attempt to redefine his position on the field.

It chapped mine, and I'm pretty easy-going...mostly...about such things, and I generally fall in on the side of the players because they're usually the underdogs going up against management.

Still, what he said, and how he said it, was in bad taste or bad form - perhaps a bit too passive-aggressive for my taste. That's really all. I'm not willing to give him a pass on it. I'm not ready to throw him out with the bath water, but no pass here. He could apologize and I'd be happy...

say what you want... but Sean does have a history of bringing in washed up TE's past their prime... JEREMY SHOCKY.

But also keep this into perspective. Players excell in the Saints system because they fit it. When players leave they it generally doesn't turn out as well for them. Their best years usually end up the ones they spent with us. The one WR I can't think of right was good with us left and was a complete bus then comes back and is good again.

Personally think we "went to the well" too often when JG was here. That's why he was getting hurt a lot. We would trow to him even when he was playing hurt. Since we traded him, I feel like we have developed a more balanced offense - same kind of offense that brought us to the big show in 2009/2010 season.

Which is why it would make sense. Brees isn't going anywhere for years. He just told Jimmy Johnson that (once again) on the FOX pregame show. He said they'll get a deal don't and he plans to remain a Saint for the rest of his career and he plans to play several more years.

How do you know how he said it? Trying to say something in 140 or less characters is a horrible means of understandable interaction. Right? Especially when it was directed at an individual but accidentally posted as a public tweet.

Oh I don't know - I'm just going on what I heard (or read), that's all. I'm not a Jimmy hater.

BUT

Maybe he should have used better judgement, assuming he wasn't being snarky. Personally, I think he was being snarky, but that's just my own opinion.

Graham was good while it lasted, but it's over now.

Plus once teams learned how to take him away, Brees was lost.

He deleted it immediately. If he was wanting to be snarky he would have left it out there, right? It was supposed to be private to Hicks and he screwed up.

See, to me, if he deleted it immediately it means he probably knew it was snarky when he posted it and tried to take it back.

Doesn't matter if it was private or broadcast nationwide. He said it.

Maybe he regretted it - maybe not. I'll never know because he didn't elaborate publicly.

He sure did seem awfully happy to get out of town tho...

Nooooooooooo!!! I know I already said that, but just wanted to make sure I'm heard. That weird bromance between Drew and him just ain't good for the rest of the team. Too many good hands out there right now to be ignored.
