Re: Hau'oli Kikaha hopes to be back on the field for training camp
I am a little surprised that he's still not getting practice reps 12 months after the injury. I get wanting to take it slow but will he have enough time come training camp to make an impact?

I think Kikaha is a gamer. He's a playmaker. I hope he comes back and makes a difference.

Start slow and stay healthy. Week one is when I will worry if need be. In the mean time let him strengthen the joint and get comfortable doing something besides rehab and lifting weights.

Hope for the best we need all hands on deck and some luck to stay away from injuries they just decimate our roster constantly.

Heard he was in on some walk-throughs already; any word whether that was as a linebacker or as a defensive end?!?

Mini Camp Wrap Up: Saints sign DT McDaniel, other things to know | WWL Hau'oli Kikaha: Hasn't been participating in any team drills or individual drills this off-season coming off an ACL injury that caused him to miss the entire season in 2016. I get asked a ton of questions about him, so I finally I caught up with him in the locker room. Here is what I can tell you. I asked him if he could play in a game if there were one this week? "I could have played in two games yesterday," he said. Kikaha came to the Saints in 2015 as a 2nd round draft pick out of Washington, and played really well his rookie season. Kikaha told me a little more about his ACL injury. He said the injury happened in OTA's last spring when he was practicing and used a spin move on an offensive lineman and stepped in a soggy muddy hole on the practice field. Also, Kikaha got into his injury history and told me his previous two knee surgeries were not done properly and this is the strongest graft he's had of the three ACL surgeries he's had. Sounds like he's feeling great. I guess it's just something we'll have to wait until training camp to get answers. |
