It was the same thing with Bush, everybody expected Barry Sanders but got something else.
Those expectations were limited more by scheme than ability. Payton has always used the RB by committee approach. It is who he is and will always be. It is like Michael Jordan back when he played for UNC. It was said the only person that could hold him to under 30 points was Dean Smith.
