I say go with the rook at LT and take our lumps early. Let him get some experience and when Armstead does come back then we have a monster o line. This does hurt but it can turn in to something positive. Im more concerned about the DT issue.

Armstead's body is either breaking down or he isn't training properly.

This labrum injury really didn't have anything to do with either. It was a freak accident. From what I understand he slipped on a mat and landed directly on a shoulder. That would cause the ball to grind into the joint and tear the labrum. If he would have been in pads they would have cushioned the impact and would would have most likely been fine. The world's healthiest athlete would have fared any better in that scenario. It was just bum luck with a degree of blame belonging, once again, to the CBA which prohibited practicing in pads until later.

We all get the "freak" injuries however this is becoming a theme for Armstead. The big fella simply can't stay healthy. As JP stated earlier, when is he ever 100%?

Let's also not forget that once the shoulder heals up there's still the mysterious knee issue that he's been battling for 3 years.

I'm not discounting the knee. I'm just saying that the latest injury was unique and totally unrelated to any chronic issue. It could have happened to a player with no injury history at all.

True.

Tyeler Davison torn his labrum during a game...

And the torn labrum for Davis Tull was done Pre-Draft...

Armstead's injury came during a bag drill of all things -

Zach Strief: Terron Armstead tore labrum in bag drill | ProFootballTalk

But Chris is right in that there's more going on with T.A.'s knee than we know, and it's chronic and problematic...

...and scary conditions like what Vilma had (arthritis) is creeping into the discussion threads...

Do we need new strength and conditioning trainers?
