so---how bout a discussion:
who is a better quarterback: let's put together brackets and see what we can see..lemme try to get this started: steve mcnair versus Warren Moon Aaron brooks versus archie manning troy aikman versus roger staubach joe montana versus steve young brett farve versus micheal vick the goal is to make a bracket-then we'll debate each grouping and try to figure out who comes out on top. basically taking each teams top two QBs and comparing them. seem fair/fun? help me out here. 1. Moon- overall historically he\'s underrated, and man wasn\'t the run and shoot fun to watch.
2. Manning- guts alone 3. Troy Aikman- all the right tools 4. Montana- best of all time 5. Farve- Vick is a glorified running back, but possesses all the tools |

I\'m certain of one thing: Michael Vick only compares to one quaterback on your list- Aaron Brooks. A few months ago Sporting News magazine had a list of overrated players in todays NFL with the most overrated player being Brian Urlacher. Yes Vick is a great running back but with all the crazy hype around him he is the most overrated player in the NFL in my opinion. He is not even close to Brett Favre.
McNair and Moon- Moon. In no relation to the comparison of qb\'s I just want to say that Moon had the prettiest spiral. He attributed that to growing the nail on his index finger on his throwing arm a little long thus creating a greater spin. Brooks and Manning- Manning. You give Manning this team and the Saints are in the playoffs every year. A talented qb with brains? Definately Manning. Aikman and Staubach- Staubach. This is the toughest comparison yet. Aikman was extremely accurate but moved slower than molasses going uphill. Staubach had more tools and a lesser line. Montana and Young- Montana. It\'s unfair to take one of the best quarterbacks (if not the best quarterback) and compare him a very good quarterback. I have no problem putting Young in the top ten qb\'s of all time but I could make a strong case for Montana as the best of all time. |

ok then-nevermind-i\'ll do mine:
1. Moon...very underrated, played in the cfl..what would have happened if? 2. manning-I think brooks is a better athlete..but athletes are only phenoms in college..it takes brains in the pro. 3. I\'m going with staubach-aikman had a gun..but his team made him better. 4. Joe cool..this mug was unflappable...and to top it off look what he did with a BAAAD kansas city team. |

thanks--anybody got any more suggestions for comparison?
Moon versus manning-interesting matchup.... both smart, both talented, neither could get to the big game...interesting. |

I am going to buck the trend and say McNair -- guy has a lot of guts -- is a smart qb and has a good arm
Manning over Brooks for sure -- physically he doesn\'t compare to Brooks -- but mentally -- leadership and pure playmaking ability Manning wins hands down Staubach for sure -- guy was a winner Montana -- only because the guy knew how to win under pressure -- Young definitely had a better arm |

interesting thought on Mcnair..but here\'s the question-is his durability concerns the reason that most people would veiw him as a lesser quarterback--or since moon was a classic fall back passer--does that help moon?
I think that is a question that is being asked in a lot of nfl board rooms--fall back passer/leader versus athletic mobile quarterback with less feel for the game.... |
