Draft
I really hope the Saints draft Channing Crowder. He is going to be a better linebacker than Derrick Johnson. Crowder is extremly intense and tough some things the saints lacked last year.
|
Draft
he\'s also had two knee surgeries and several \"off-the feild incidents\"....
yeah-he\'d do great in New Orleans. |
Draft
He didn\'t hurt his knees in college. So who do we get Burnett. He had a few knee problems in College or I guess we just get another Georgia player. Crowder will be very similiar to Ray Lewis. Lewis had some problems off the field but i would still take him. Thomas Davis would not be a bad pick but why pick a safety to move him to linebacker.

I\'ll take burnett. and yes, burnett and RUud are the two linebackers I want the most in this draft. [Edited on 1/4/2005 by baronm] |

Burnett and Crowder both had injuries as have most players that are in the draft. I just wish they would draft a guy like Crowder. He just has an intensity and personality I would like to see on the Saints. I watched about everyone of his games at Florida. He has all of the tools that you want in a middle linebacker. I like Watson a lot I thought he did pretty good for a rookie that was on a bad defense. Crowder is just on another level physically. He has had off the field problems and I know New Orleans is not the best place. If they are going to go for an outside linebacker. I like that Shawne Merriman. Crowder may be a problem and have a lot of injuries. That can be anyone though that is why the draft is so exciting because you never know what is going to happen. The reason I like him so much is that if it works out he will be the best linebacker out of this group.

All I think this guy is saying, and I tend to agree, is that the team needs to look beyond stats for a change(something many people on this board could stand to do) and draft someone with a \"fire in his belly\" AND talent.
If I had to pick between someone with a little less talent but a huge mean streak and someone with a lot of talent but shows no passion, I\'m picking the first guy. About 90% on the guys in the NFL have character issues. and 100% of them have history of injuries. And like I\'ve said before, Duece has supposed to be injury-plagued too. He\'s a freakin RB with a history of knee problems...that is a recipe for failure if there ever was one. Looks like he\'s doing ok to me. [Edited on 2/4/2005 by GoldenTomb] |
Draft
Crowder may be good, but he will not be better than DJ.Johnson is the best defensive player in the draft. I\'d take Burnett over Crowder in a heartbeat too

Draft
what we need to look at golden tomb is whether or not a guy can play on the field during the games. im with you on that. i mean we are constantly looking at the 40 speed and height and weight. not that that isnt important but it isnt the end all be all. i like bockwoldt and want to see if he can play the entire season and be effective. im not worried about his size or speed. i just think he has a knack for the game. thats what is most important. i hope they give the guy a shot

crowder played for ron zook and left when zook was canned...in several games that I saw him play in he looked lost most of the time and teams ran plays AT HIM..including Miss St. which is arguably the worst team in the SEC -who by the way--beat florida handedly. It is widely speculated that crowder left because 1. he wouldn\'t see playing time under the new coach--who reportedly hates lazy players, and 2. his character concerns were worse than reported...which could have kept him off the team... pass |

discount 40 times and look at the game tape...their are alot of guys that drop because of the combine and make far better players....it\'s not always the athletic ability but what\'s between their ears and in their heart that really matters....as I said-pass on crowder. |
Draft
i would really like to get burnett and he\'d love to play for the saints... he\'s been a lifelong fan of the saints.... i know he\'d at least attempt to play football if he suited up in the black and gold...

For Christs sake the kid (Crowder) likes to takle wild boars for fun. If you dont want that kind of guy on your team, who do you want. He\'s a hoss.

Draft
he\'s not good enough for #16 but will be gone by #40. another pick scored between there in a howard trade might make him possible.
