Draft

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I really hope the Saints draft Channing Crowder. He is going to be a better linebacker than Derrick Johnson. Crowder is extremly intense and tough some things the saints lacked last year....

He didn\'t hurt his knees in college. So who do we get Burnett. He had a few knee problems in College or I guess we just get another Georgia player. Crowder will be very similiar to Ray Lewis. Lewis had some problems off the field but i would still take him. Thomas Davis would not be a bad pick but why pick a safety to move him to linebacker.

burnett had 1 knee injury-and played very well after it...tennessee went to the SEC title game thanx mostly to him and the defense.

Weaknesses: Durability might be a concern because he has had a couple of knee injuries and then suffered torn ligaments in his right foot as a sophomore... Has only played major college football for two seasons so lack of experience may be a concern...Needs to get stronger...May have some character concerns.

Strengths: Has been extremely productive since day one of his true freshman year...Great athlete...Very good size and speed...Tough and physical...Aggressive...Active and makes plays all over the field...Has excellent instincts...Solid tackler...Has not yet reached his full potential.

Notes: Only a true sophomore eligibility-wise but was able to enter the 2005 NFL Draft because he has been out of high school for three years after delaying enrollment to rehab a knee injury...Crowder supposedly considered entering the \'04 Draft after Maurice Clarett initially won his court case so the NFL was on his mind...Was real close to Ron Zook, who he considers a father figure, so his firing may have been a factor in pushing Crowder to go pro.

he also played for one of the most underacheiving florida defenses I\'ve seen...burnett played for an overachieving tennessee team--and was a team captain...

I\'ll take burnett. and yes, burnett and RUud are the two linebackers I want the most in this draft.

Burnett and Crowder both had injuries as have most players that are in the draft. I just wish they would draft a guy like Crowder. He just has an intensity and personality I would like to see on the Saints. I watched about everyone of his games at Florida. He has all of the tools that you want in a middle linebacker. I like Watson a lot I thought he did pretty good for a rookie that was on a bad defense. Crowder is just on another level physically. He has had off the field problems and I know New Orleans is not the best place. If they are going to go for an outside linebacker. I like that Shawne Merriman. Crowder may be a problem and have a lot of injuries. That can be anyone though that is why the draft is so exciting because you never know what is going to happen. The reason I like him so much is that if it works out he will be the best linebacker out of this group.

Only thing Crowder and lewis will have in common, is that they both play LB

All I think this guy is saying, and I tend to agree, is that the team needs to look beyond stats for a change(something many people on this board could stand to do) and draft someone with a \"fire in his belly\" AND talent.

If I had to pick between someone with a little less talent but a huge mean streak and someone with a lot of talent but shows no passion, I\'m picking the first guy.

About 90% on the guys in the NFL have character issues. and 100% of them have history of injuries.

And like I\'ve said before, Duece has supposed to be injury-plagued too. He\'s a freakin RB with a history of knee problems...that is a recipe for failure if there ever was one. Looks like he\'s doing ok to me.

Crowder may be good, but he will not be better than DJ.Johnson is the best defensive player in the draft. I\'d take Burnett over Crowder in a heartbeat too

what we need to look at golden tomb is whether or not a guy can play on the field during the games. im with you on that. i mean we are constantly looking at the 40 speed and height and weight. not that that isnt important but it isnt the end all be all. i like bockwoldt and want to see if he can play the entire season and be effective. im not worried about his size or speed. i just think he has a knack for the game. thats what is most important. i hope they give the guy a shot

Your team stinks
