What often seems to be forgotten about O-line players is what type of system they know and what they are best suited to do. Kind of like if a corner is good in zone or man coverage.
I don't know enough about the players involved in the trade but such a thing might be a factor. There is a big big difference in techniques between an O-line player used to the zone scheme compared to a more down hill running offence, what types of pass pro is he used to etc. I would say that most OL players at an NFL level can do most things decently but there is a huge difference between decently and great and if we would spend a draft pick, any draft pick, I for one would want the latter. |
