Falcons re-treads

The Atlanta Falcons released linebacker Chris Draft, another in a series of moves to change the face of their defense.

The Falcons, who won the NFC South with an 11-5 record and advanced to the conference title game in their first season under head coach Jim Mora, released two starters -- nose tackle Ed Jasper and free safety Cory Hall -- on Feb. 28.

Well, here's three positions some have mentioned as "needs." All are solid players who were starters last season, and the Saints & Buzzards have never been real shy about re-treading each other's players. Draft might be interesting if gotten cheaply, and Jasper probably still has a year or two left in the tank. Any opinions?

Draft is okay, but not a need for us. There are options that are still out there, mainly Jamie Sharper, Simmons, Fields, Witherspoon, etc... Ed Jasper, nah I\'ll pass. I rather watch Courtney, Colby, Green, and Sullivan develop.

Hartwell, Brooking, Coleman, Smith, Lavalais, Webster, Hall, etc... that\'s a scary defense. Can you believe that\'s an upgrade from last year? Geez. (remember Hall and Webster were injured)

Nah, I\'m painfully aware of all the Buzzards\' signings, and not particularly happy about them! Just wondered if anyone thought WE could \"re-tread\" the players they\'ve let go.

I think we could use Jasper, but he\'d probably want more than we could (or should) pay for him. Draft could help, but is probably no better than Hodge or Rodgers in the long run.

Darn it, papz, don\'t be editing after I\'ve responded!!!

Yeah, the Buzzards are really developing the D-side of the ball, and that\'s nothing but bad news for the Saints. A solid defense is the perfect antidote for Vick\'s erratic antics. Don\'t like what I\'m seeing there at all...
